Art Camp Volunteers :
With the second year of attempted summer workshops at the Eckhaus showing limited results, it has been determined that the greatest flaw was inadequate time to advertise.
To date, Mike Schneider’s Animation workshop has been the only one which has had students sign-up for it. This is at least in part due to his tendency of self-promotion.
After discussions amongst Eckhaus staff joined by Kris Turk, Kutztown Middle School Art Teacher, it was advised to plan the events earlier and generate a schedule which would then be staffed by volunteers. As opposed to the past structure of workshop’s being submitted much in the format of a lesson plan by those interesting in teaching them, these Art Camps will have a loosely pre-planned structure which while leaving room to employ volunteers’ skills will have some basic plan of what skills the students will be walking away with.
So that these Art Camps can be well promoted, it was also advised that this schedule be generated by the end of this summer so a mailer can be designed, printed and sent through out the local districts prior to parents planning their next summer’s vacations.
As a preliminary measure, the Eckhaus staff is interested in determining how many people would be willing to volunteer. This is a good opportunity to serve the community while gaining additional teaching experience.
Anyone interested may contact : info at eckhaus.org for more details.
Have a good summer,
Eckhaus Staff
