Hello all,

This summer, on July 27th and 28th, I will be teaching another animation workshop, being held at the Eckhaus. (157 W. Main Street Kutztown, Pa 19530)

Unlike the rest of the workshops being offered at the Eckhaus over the summer, this workshop is opened to all ages including college students and even professors who wish to learn how to animate.

Through the numerous experiments I’ve done in my own work as well as theories tested in past workshops, no matter what media you work in, there is a way to apply it to animation.

Because this workshop is opened to all age, it also presents the chance to work side by side with your (brother/ sister/ son/ daughter/ friends/ coworkers/ etc.) and accommodations will be made so that people of any age/ skill level will be able to participate and generate an animated piece by the end of each day.

Where as all tech and materials required to animate will be accessible to everyone participating in the workshop, anyone so interested is encouraged to bring their own equipment (cameras, scanners, computers, art media, etc) so that they can learn a method of animation which can then be continued on their own after the workshop is completed.

Freeware programs will be provided to anyone bringing tech which does not already have video editing software installed on it.

Cost:

Eckhaus is charging a base fee of $70 for each the studio workshops.

This money is used towards maintaining the space since it is a non-profit organization.

Beyond that there are materials fees:

I tried to keep the materials fee as low as possible since $70 is already pricy for some of the people who expressed interest.

The basic materials fee is $20.
day 1 - $10 (templates, blank sheets, drawing materials, etc.)
day 2 - $10 (oil based clay, glass, etc.)

There is an optional additional fee of $10 if a DVD of the resulting work is desired.
(If a DVD is not desired, computer files will be available without additional fee.)

If the participate does use their own materials, the materials fee can be subsidized or waved depending on what they bring and what they still need.

How to Sign Up :

There are multiple ways to officially sign up for a workshop.

Online:
http://www.eckhaus.org/workshops07/workshops.html

By Mail:
http://www.eckhaus.org/EckhausSummerWorkshopRegistrationForm.doc
... or on location at the Eckhaus (157 W. Main Street Kutztown, Pa 19530).

At this time, they do not have an account for online payments so by mail is generally
the easiest and most secure method for enrollment.

Anyone interested in signing up for a workshop, your enrollment must be received at least one week prior to the workshop itself. In the case of the animation workshop that will be on or before July 20th.

The earlier you sign up, the more opportunity there is in customizing the materials to you and/or your child(ren).

Should you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me
( shenlon at hotmail.com ) and I will address them as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
- Mike Schneider
