Athlete of the Week

Ashley Singer, Women's Swimming

         Ashley Singer, of the women's swimming team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.  Singer won three individual events and was part of four winning relay teams at the Golden Bear Invitational.  She won the 1650 free with a time of 17:54.98, to set a new school, pool and meet record.  Singer set a new meet and pool record, winning the 500 free in a time of 5:10.75.  She also won the 200 free (1:57.97) and set a new meet record in the preliminaries (1:56.01).

       SAT 11/18 - W: 14th/24 - at NCAA Championships - Kutztown finished a best-ever 14th at the NCAA Championships.  The Golden Bears finished 14th out of 24 teams, up one place from last season.  Kutztown scored 364 team points.  Adams State won the national title with 94 points.  North Dakota came in 13th with 348 points and Florida Southern placed 15th with 366 points.  Stephanie Williams (jr. Harrisburg/Riverside) led the Golden Bears on the 6K course, placing 46th overall with a time of 21:40.8.  Desiree Bower (sr. Bethel/Tulpehocken) finished 67th (22:08.7) and Joanna Horstmann (so. Downingtown/Downingtown West) was 69th (22:10.4).  Maureen Watson (fr. Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) placed 76th (22:25.0) and Chelsea Thomas (sr. Sellersville/Pennridge) finished 106th in 22:59.4.  Rounding out KU's top seven were Cheryl Dingman (so. Lansdale/North Penn) in 145th (24:00.6) and Lauren Ayers (fr. Ocean Township, NJ/Ocean Township) in 150th (24:18.8).
