Lauren Foulke, Women's Golf
(so. Kempton/Kutztown)
Lauren Foulke, of the women's golf team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Foulke set a school record shooting a 158 in two days on 36 holes at the PSAC Championships. She also helped the team to set a school record with a two day score of 669 on 36 holes.

SAT 10/14 - at Lafayette Invitational
M: 9th/14: The cross country men's team placed ninth out of 14 at the Lafayette Invitational. The top runner for KU in the 5 mile run was Pat Bone (jr. Preasville/Central Bucks West). Bone finished 33rd with a time of 26:49. Joe Haughey (sr. Richboro/Council Rock South) was the Golden Bears second finishers with a time of 27:10 for 42nd. In 43rd place was Dan Wilde (sr. New Cumberland/Cedar Cliff) with a time of 27:11 . Pat Coyne (sr. Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) finished 64th (27:30) and Tony Skiles (so. West Reading/Wyomissing) placed 79th (27:59).
W: 4th/13: The women placed fourth out of 13 against all Division I opponents at the Lafayette Invitational. The top runner KU was Stephanie Williams (jr. Harrisburg/Riverside). She finished fifth overall in the pool of 134 runners. Her time on the 6K course was 20:59. Cheryl Dingman (so. Lansdale/North Penn) was the Golden Bear's second finisher with a time of 21:33, for 18th. In 22nd was Joanna Horstmann (so. Downingtown/Downingtown West) with a time of 21:44. Desiree Bower (sr. Bethel/Tulpehocken) finished in 26th (22:00). Rounding out the top seven were Chelsea Thomas (sr. Sellersville/Pennridge) in 27th (22:09), Maureen Watson (fr. Walnutport/Allentown Central Catholic) in 32nd (22:11) and Jolene Collins (fr. Palmyra/Palmyra) in 68th (23:03).

WED 10/11 - Kutztown 3, Mansfield 2 - Jennifer Belfatti (so. Hatfield/Lansdale Catholic) scored the decisive goal in the shootout to lead Kutztown to a thrilling 3-2 win over Mansfield. The game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation. After two scoreless overtime periods, the game went to a shootout. Laura Belfatti (sr. Hatfield/Lansdale Catholic) and Heather Hoxter (jr. Parkesburg/Octorara) put KU ahead 2-0 after the first two rounds of the shootout. Jennifer Belfatti then sealed it in the third round with a goal. KU goalkeeper Sam Flowers (jr. Souderton/Souderton) was stellar in the cage, stopping all three Mansfield shots in the shootout. She finished with nine saves. Mansfield led 1-0 8:22 into the game before Kelley Healey (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) tied it at 1-1 with an unassisted goal at the 29:53 mark. Shortly after halftime, MU again took the lead, but Lindsey Bozarth knotted it at the 42:02 point.
SAT 10/14 - BLOOMSBURG 3, KUTZTOWN 1 - Bloomsburg defeated Kutztown, 3-1. Bloomsburg scored the only goal in the first half at the 10 minute mark. Kutztown came back 48 seconds into the second half when Laura Belfatti scored. Bloomsburg then answered with two goals at the 44th and 61st minute to seal the victory. Flowers had 16 saves in net for the Golden Bears.

SAT 10/14-SUN 10/15 - at PSAC Championships - 7th/8: Kutztown finished 7th of eight teams at the PSAC Championships at Wrendale Golf Course. Kutztown, one of three women's teams in the field, finished second among the women's teams with a two day score of 669, setting a school record for 36 holes on a par 72 course. The previous record was a 674 set at the 2004 PSAC Championships. California (PA) was the top women's team, with a two day score of 632. West Chester, 755, is the other women's team. West Chester's men's squad won the championship with a score of 603, followed by IUP (605) and Millersville (611). Lauren Foulke (so. Kempton/Kutztown) finished 22nd out of 40 golfers with a two day total of 78-80-158 on the par 72, 5,800 yard course. Her score broke the school record for 36 holes on a par 72 course, bettering the previous mark of 162, set by Jessica May at the 2003 PSAC Championships. Holly Shubilla (sr. Wilkes-Barre/GAR Memorial) tied for 30th (82-81-169), while Angie Petak (jr. Brockway/Brockway) (86-84-170) was 32nd. Tristin Suzenski (sr. Pottstown/St. Pius X) placed 33rd (85-87-172), while Bethany Adams was 36th (92-91-183).

WED 10/11 - LOCK HAVEN 6, KUTZTOWN 0 - Lock Haven scored three goals in each half to secure a 6-0 win over Kutztown. Ryan Kratz (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown) made seven saves in net for the Golden Bears.
SAT 10/14 - Millersville 3, Kutztown 0 - Millersville scored three goals in the second half to defeat Kutztown, 3-0. The two teams played to a 0-0 tie in the first half. Millersville came out strong in the second half and scored in the 67th, 83rd and 89th minute. Kratz had two saves in net for the Golden Bears. Kutztown had eight shots while Millersville had seven.

THU 10/22 - Kutztown 2, Millersville 0 - Kutztown defeated Millersville, 2-0. Freshmen forwards Raven Chiara (fr. Jamesburg, NJ/Monroe Twp.) and Angela Corrado (fr. Kutztown/Kutztown) scored goals for Kutztown, while Kim Kelty (jr. Levittown/Neshaminy) had an assist. Chiara opened the scoring at the 25:30 mark. Corrado gave KU insurance with her goal, off a pass from Kelty, in the 70th minute. Nicole Rodweller (sr. Easton/Easton) notched two saves in net for the Golden Bears.
SAT 10/14 - NEW HAVEN 1, KUTZTOWN 0 - New Haven scored the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute to defeat Kutztown, 1-0. Rodweller made five saves in net for the Golden Bears.

THU 10/12-FRI 10/13 - at ITA Small College Championships - Santiago Baquerizo (so. Guayaquil, ECUADOR) and Lukas Labitsch (so. Bruck an der Mur, AUSTRIA) competed in the ITA Small College Doubles Championship and placed seventh. Baquerizo and Labitsch lost in the first round to Lynn University, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8. In the second match, the duo lost to Lander University, 6-3, 6-2. In the seventh place match, Baquerizo and Labitsch defeated the team from NW Missouri State, 6-1, 6-2.

TUE 10/10 - Kutztown 3, Millersville 0 - Kutztown defeated Millersville in three games, 30-13, 30-15, 30-25. Dani Witherite (sr. PA Furnace/State College) led the way with 25 digs, 10 kills and four blocks. Sarah Brandon (sr. Gibsonia/Pine-Richland) added 18 kills and eight blocks. Austin Kinney (so. Landisville/Hempfield) dished out 40 assists and added 17 digs. Nicole Biuso (jr. Centereach, NY/Ward Melville) notched 25 digs. Erin Waters (jr. Waymart/Western Wayne) had 11 blocks and eight kills. Amanda Scott (so. West Chester/Bishop Shanahan) notched 14 digs.
FRI 10/13-SAT 10/14 - PSAC CROSSOVER
FRI 10/13 - SLIPPERY ROCK 3, KUTZTOWN 1 - Witherite had 16 digs to set a new KU career record, but Kutztown lost in four games to Slippery Rock, 3-1. Game scores were 30-26, 20-30, 30-25, 30-17. Witherite notched 16 digs to surpass the old record of 1,332, set by Missy Kline. Witherite also had 11 kills and two service aces. Brandon notched 17 kills and four blocks. Kinney dished out 40 assists and added 12 digs. Katie Miller (fr. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) had seven kills. Waters notched nine blocks and six digs. Biuso added 19 digs.
SAT 10/14 - KUTZTOWN 3, INDIANA (PA) 0 - Kutztown defeated Indiana (PA) in three games, 30-22, 30-24, 30-23. Brandon led KU with 16 kills and four blocks. Biuso notched 17 digs. Witherite added 14 digs and six kills. Kinney dished out 29 assists and 12 digs.
CALIFORNIA (PA) 3, KUTZTOWN 2 - It took five games to decide a winner, but California (PA) pulled out the match, 3-2, over Kutztown. Game scores were 29-31, 30-26, 30-27, 24-30, 15-13. Brandon had 24 kills and four blocks. Witherite notched 20 kills and 28 digs. Waters added 12 kills and three blocks. Kinney dished out 51 assists and added 19 digs. Biuso also added 19 digs.
