Kyle Spotts, Football

         Kyle Spotts, of the football team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.  Spotts had a career day against West Chester, throwing for 345 yards.  Spotts also threw for four touchdowns while running for another.

       SAT 10/21 - at East Stroudsburg Invitational

       W: 7th/9 - Kutztown's women placed 7th of 9 teams at the East Stroudsburg Pete Nevins Invitational.  KU scored 176 points.  Catholic (44) and ESU (46) were the top two teams.  Individual results are unavailable.

Last Week's Action

TUE 10/17 - Indiana (PA) 1, Kutztown 0 - Indiana (PA) scored at the 6:37 mark to give IUP a 1-0 win over Kutztown.  Sam Flowers (jr. Souderton/Souderton) made 16 saves in net for the Golden Bears. 

SAT 10/21 - SHIPPENSBURG 2, KUTZTOWN 1 - Shippensburg scored in the first five minutes of each half to defeat Kutztown.  Shippensburg scored 4:54 into the first half and 4:45 into the second half.  Kutztown broke up the shutout after time had expired in the second half.  The Bears were awarded a penalty corner as time expired and Laura Belfatti (sr. Hatfield/Lansdale Catholic) drew a penalty stroke off the corner.  Her stroke found the top left corner of the cage to make the final 2-1.  Flowers had 13 saves for KU.

Last Week's Action

TUE 10/17 - KUTZTOWN 0, WEST CHESTER 0 (2ot) - Kutztown and West Chester played to a 0-0 double-overtime tie.  Despite being out shot 10-1, none of them got past goaltender Ryan Kratz (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown), who earned his second career shutout.  

SUN 10/22 - East Stroudsburg 5, Kutztown 0 - East Stroudsburg defeated Kutztown 5-0 in its final game of the 2006 season.  ESU had one player score the first four goals at in the 17th, 23rd, 56th and 57th minutes.  The Warriors scored their final goal off a direct kick.  Kratz played the first 76 minutes in goal, making three saves while letting in four goals.  Matthew Fredericks (fr. Montdale/Lakeland) played the final 14 minutes and allowed one goal off the direct kick.  Kutztown managed 12 shots.

TUE 10/17 - WEST CHESTER 4, KUTZTOWN 0 - West Chester scored three goals in the first half on its way to defeat Kutztown, 4-0.  West Chester scored its first three goals in a seven minute span.  The Golden Rams then scored and insurance goal at the 78:30 mark to seal the victory.  Nicole Rodweller (sr. Easton/Easton) made four saves in net for the Golden Bears.  West Chester had seven shots while Kutztown had five.

SUN 10/22 - Kutztown 2, East Stroudsburg 0 - Kutztown scored two goals in the first half to defeat East Stroudsburg in the final regular season game.  Julie Folsom (so. Wanaque, NJ/Lakeland) put KU on the board at the 13:08 mark of an assist from Kim Kelty (jr. Levittown/Neshaminy).  The Golden Bears scored their second goal at the 39:20 mark when an Emily Mahon's (jr. Spring Grove/Spring Grove) throw-in bounced off a defenders head and went in the net.  KU had 12 shots while ESU had 13.  Rodweller made four saves for the victory.

Last Week's Action

TUE 10/17 - Kutztown 3, Shippensburg 0 - Kutztown clinched a playoff berth with a 3-0 win over Shippensburg.  Game scores were 30-26, 30-27, 31-29.  Sarah Brandon (sr. Gibsonia/Pine-Richland) led the Golden Bears with 18 kills and six blocks.  Erin Waters (jr. Waymart/Western Wayne) notched 11 kills and 10 blocks.  Austin Kinney (so. Landisville/Hempfield) dished out 36 assists and 18 digs.  Dani Witherite (sr. PA Furnace/State College) had 5 kills and 21 digs, while Nicole Biuso (jr. Centereach, NY/Ward Melville) added 22 digs and two service aces.

SAT 10/21 - KUTZTOWN 3, WEST CHESTER 0 - Kutztown defeated West Chester, 3-0.  Game scores were 30-19, 30-20, 30-24.  Brandon led KU with 14 kills and five blocks.  Witherite added 12 kills, seven digs and five blocks.  Kinney dished out 34 assists.  Waters notched six kills and five blocks while Biuso added 13 digs and two service aces.
