Athlete of the Week
Kelley Healey, Field Hockey
(jr. Toms River, N.J./Toms River North)
Kelley Healey, of the field hockey team, is this week's KU Student
Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Healey finished the week with five goals and
five assists in four games, helping KU defeat PSAC East foe Shippensburg and
win the Joshua W. Wesner Memorial Tournament. Healey scored two goals
against Shippensburg as KU rallied in the final 15 minutes for a 3-1 win.

FRI 9/8 - Maroon and Gold Fall Classic
Women: 1st/5 - The KU women took first at the Maroon and Gold Fall
Classic at KU. On the women's side, KU scored 22 points, well ahead of
second place Lock Haven (59). Stephanie Williams (sr. Harrisburg/Riverside)
finished first in the women's 6K race with a time of 24:04, followed by KU's
Joanna Horstmann (jr. Downingtown/Downingtown East) and Kristin Cupido (fr.
Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan), who finished second and third with
times of 24:22 and 24:44, respectively. Hailey Dell (jr. Saranac Lake,
N.Y./Saranac Lake) finished seventh at 25:16 and Keri Brown (fr.
Southampton, N.J./Seneca) finished ninth with a time of 26:01 to round out
the Golden Bears' top five.
Men: 2nd/5 - Lock Haven was the team champion at the Maroon and Gold
Fall classic with 26 points. KU was second with 48, ahead of third-place
West Chester (68). KU's John Pyne (jr. Harrisburg/Bishop McDevitt), Pat
Bone (sr. Doylestown/Central Bucks West) and Ben Loht (so. Lewistown/Indian
Valley) finished in fifth (27:52), sixth (28:00) and seventh (28:03),
respectively, to help the men to second place. Matt Cocciardi (fr. York/York
Suburban) finished in 14th at 28:42 and Tim Ballingall (fr.
Downingtown/Downingtown East) finished 16th at 28:55 to round out KU's top
five runners.

WED 9/5 - KU 3, SHIPPENSBURG 1 - KU rallied to score three goals in
the final 15 minutes to knock off Shippensburg at home. Kelley Healey (jr.
Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) scored twice and Tristin Ludy (sr.
Pottstown/Pottsgrove) added an insurance goal as the Golden Bears overcame
an early 1-0 deficit in their PSAC home opener.
FRI 9/7-SAT 9/8 - JOSHUA W. WESNER MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
FRI 9/7 - KU 11, PHILADELPHIA 0 - Lyndsay Butler (jr. Annandale,
N.J./Summit) tied KU's school record for goals with four as Kutztown won
11-0 over visiting Philadelphia University in the first game of Joshua W.
Wesner Memorial Tournament. Butler finished with two assists for 10 points
in the game, one shy of the KU single-game record. Healey and Alyssa Maltese
(so. Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) scored two goals and had an assist
each. Anne Waapu (r-fr. Hastings, NEW ZEALAND), Holly Hubbard (jr.
Etters/Red Land) and Abbey Sheeler (fr. Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) scored
a goal apiece. Carrie Healey (so. Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) had two
assists, while Whitney Stum (jr. Landisburg/West Perry) and Hubbard had an
assist each.
FRI 9/7 - KU 2, BELLARMINE 1 - Waapu scored the game-winning goal to
give KU a 2-1 win over Bellarmine. Carrie Healey gave KU the lead at the
23:04 mark, off an assist from Butler. Waapu netted the game-winner with
just 5:28 left in regulation.
SAT 9/8 - KU 5, CATAWBA 1 - Butler scored two goals and KU won 5-1 in
the final game of the tournament. Butler tied the game at 1 at the 15:08
mark in the first half. Kelley Healey, who finished with a goal and tied the
school record with four assists, provided the pass to Butler. Sheeler, who
also had an assist, scored the eventual game-winning goal two minutes into
the second half to give KU (6-0) a 2-1 lead. Kelley Healey, Butler and
Carrie Healey then scored three unanswered goals to keep the Golden Bears
undefeated on the season. KU's Sam Flowers (sr. Harleysville/Souderton),
Courtney Geibel (jr. Mifflintown/Juniata), Hubbard, Kelley Healey and Butler
were named to the all-tournament team.

FRI 9/7 - 3rd/5, GOLDEN BEAR INVITATIONAL - Angie Petak (sr.
Brockway/Brockway Area) posted an 83 to help KU finish third at the Golden
Bear Invite. Samantha Rumbley (fr. Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) and Kelli
Pry (fr. Coatesville/Coatesville) each finished with an 86 and Krista
Tressler (fr. Fayetteville/Heritage Academy) had an 87 as KU posted a score
of 342. KU finished third behind Lehigh (316) and Mt. Saint Mary's (340).

THU 9/6 - East Stroudsburg 4, KU 0 - Keeper Matthew Fredericks (so.
Montdale/Lakeland) made seven saves over the final 65 minutes, but KU
couldn't overcome East Stroudsburg's three first-half goals.
SAT 9/8 - SLIPPERY ROCK 4, KU 1 - Greg Sassaman (jr. Blairstown,
N.J./North Warren Reg.) scored on a penalty kick, but Slippery Rock did the
same and added three other goals for the win.

Last Week's Action
THU 9/6 - East Stroudsburg 2, KU 1 - Jen Tice (fr. Barnegat,
N.J./Southern Regional) scored off a corner kick from Carolynne Kahl (fr.
Bethel/Tulpehocken) with less than eight minutes left in the second half,
but KU could come no closer. Stefanie Bonsky (fr. Manahawkin, N.J./Southern
Regional) had eight saves in net for KU.
SAT 9/8 - KU 3, No. 7 SLIPPERY ROCK 1 - Angela Corrado (so.
Kutztown/Kutztown) scored two goals and Kim Kelty (sr. Levittown/Neshaminy)
had another as KU stunned the No. 7 team in the nation, previously unbeaten
Slippery Rock at Keystone Field. Corrado scored the game's only first-half
tally on an unselfish play by Tice. Kelty made it 2-0 at the 62:03 mark off
a pass from Julie Folsom (sr. Wanaque, N.J./Lakeland) and Corrado headed in
a third KU goal off a corner kick from Kahl with 48 seconds left. Bonsky
made five saves in the game, including a great grab on a corner in the
second half.

Last Week's Action
TUE 9/4 - KU 3, PHILADELPHIA UNIV. 0 - Lindsay Confer (fr.
Wingate/Bald Eagle Area) had 12 kills to lead Kutztown to a 3-0 win over
Philadelphia University at Keystone Hall. Game scores were 30-28, 30-15 and
30-17. Confer added eight digs and four blocks, while Erin Waters (sr.
Waymart/Western Wayne) and Kelsey Nester (fr. Catasauqua/Catasauqua)
recorded eight kills apiece. Nester added four blocks. Austin Kinney (jr.
Landisville/Hempfield) had 39 assists and 12 digs, while Nicole Biuso (sr.
Centereach, N.Y./Ward Melville) had 22 digs.
WED 9/5 - Lafayette 3, KU 1 - Kinney had 52 assists and helped
teammate Katie Miller (so. Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown) post a team-high 17
kills, but KU fell 3-1 to Division I Lafayette. After falling 30-23 in the
first game, KU tied the match with a 30-21 win in Game 2, but two straight
setbacks of 30-28 ended the Golden Bears' bid to remain unbeaten. Confer
finished with 15 kills and 15 digs, while Nester had 11 kills and seven
blocks. Waters added 10 kills and four blocks. Biuso had 17 digs.
FRI 9/7-SAT 9/8 - at PSAC/WVIAC crossover at Indiana, Pa.
FRI 9/7 - West Virginia Wesleyan 3, KU 2 - KU was up 2-1 after three
games, winning game one 30-21 and game three 31-29, but the Bobcats won
games two and four, 30-22 and 30-20, before winning the decisive game five
15-11. Confer led KU's offense with 19 kills. She added nine digs. Waters
had 13 kills and four blocks. Miller notched 11 kills. Kinney dished out 45
assists and had nine digs. Catie Leahy (fr. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley)
led the defense with 12 digs.
SAT 9/8 - KU 3, Fairmont State 0 - KU handed Fairmont State three
straight setbacks, 30-8, 30-22 and 30-28, to win 3-0. Confer had 14 kills,
Waters had 12 and Miller had 10. Kinney had 39 assists, while Jamie Celia
(fr. Douglassville/Daniel Boone) and Biuso had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
KU 3, Seton Hill 0 - KU swept Seton Hill with wins
of 30-28, 30-25 and 30-22. Waters led the way with 11 kills and three
blocks, while Miller and Confer each had eight kills and two blocks. Kinney
added 34 assists and had 14 digs. Biuso had 10 digs in the match and Leahy
had 11 digs.
