KUTZTOWN'S MIKE GROSSO NAMED PSAC EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University football's Mike Grosso (jr. Hackettstown, NJ/Pope John) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Week.

 

            Grosso, a defensive end, had a standout effort in Kutztown's 10-3 loss to Shippensburg on Saturday.  He tallied eight tackles, which included four sacks and an additional tackle for loss totaling -29 yards.  In additional two of his sacks forced fumbles and he added a pass breakup.  Despite the loss, Kutztown's defense limited Shippensburg to 225 yards of total offense.

 

            Grosso missed the final seven games of the 2004 season after suffering a leg injury against Lock Haven last September.  At the time of his injury, he was averaging over five tackles per game and had two sacks.

 

            Grosso and the Golden Bears return to action this Saturday at Clarion.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
