Kutztown is coming off a 12-0 loss to Bloomsburg. The setback dropped KU's record to 1-5 overall, 1-2 in the PSAC East. Saturday's game at ESU is the second of two-straight road games for KU in 2005, the only time of the season in which it plays back-to-back contests on the road.

East Stroudsburg rolled to a 56-0 thumping of Clarion on Saturday. The Warriors are 5-1 overall, 1-1 in the PSAC East. ESU also has wins over Bentley (72-17), Edinboro (23-21), C.W. Post (66-49), Millersville (17-13), with its sole loss to Bloomsburg (31-24 in overtime).

This game marks the 59th meeting between Kutztown and East Stroudsburg, dating back more than 100 years to 1904. East Stroudsburg holds a 40-17-1 advantage in the series, including the last four matchups. Last season, The Warriors won a 44-25 shootout at University Field, in which the teams combined for an even 1,000 yards of total offense. James Brooks caught seven passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns, including a school-record 85 yard grab. Maurice Adams notched his first career 100-yard game, running for 159 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. Greg Mitchell had six tackles, a sack and forced fumble for the KU defense. The last time the teams played at Eiler-Martin Stadium, in 2002, ESU recorded a decisive 34-7 victory. KU's last win over the Warriors on the road came in 2000 (17-16).

Notable

Kutztown's shutout loss to Bloomsburg was the first time the Bears had been shutout since the first game of 2004 vs. Shippensburg...it was just the second shutout by a Division II team since 1982.for the fourth time in five losses in 2005, KU had the ball in the fourth quarter with a chance to take the lead or tie..KU's five opponents in the month of October were all ranked in the top eight in last week's Northeast Region Poll (#6 West Chester, #1 Bloomsburg, #2 East Stroudsburg, #8 Millersville, #7 Edinboro).KU is 5-2 in the second of back-to-back road games under head coach Dave Keeny, with one of the losses coming in overtime.

Tracking the Golden Bears

Offense

Rain, a muddy field and a stingy Bloomsburg defense, led to KU's loss on Saturday. KU had several opportunities to score, but a first-quarter drive stalled at the three, and two fourth quarter possessions were hampered by fumbles in Bloomsburg territory. Despite the "0" on the scoreboard, KU managed some respectable statistics, given the playing conditions. QB Kyle Spotts (so. Tamaqua/Tamaqua) completed 15-of-39 passes for 167 yards, with no interceptions. He also rushed for 41 yards on 10 carries. Spotts did, however, fumble the slippery pigskin twice, while two other fumbles were charged to the team after errant snaps. WR Larry Baumgarnder (so. New Oxford/New Oxford) caught six passes for 55 yards, while WR James Brooks (jr. Lancaster/McCaskey) had three gabs for 48 yards. WR Brent Howard (fr. Perkiomenville/Boyertown) caught three passes for 43 yards. Maurice Adams (fr. West Chester/Henderson) rushed for 53 yards on 11 carries.

For the season, the Golden Bears are averaging 329.7 yards per game, including 194.7 passing and 135.0 rushing. Spotts has completed 112-of-229 passes for 1,168 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has been picked off eight times. Baumgardner has caught 31 passes for 355 yards and seven TDs. Brooks has 26 catches for 312 yards and a score. Brooks, who has played in one less game than Baumgardner, ranks third in the PSAC in receptions per game (5.20). Baumgardner is fourth (5.17). TE Jason Henley (jr. Gilbertsville/Boyertown) has 13 grabs for 108 yards and a TD.

Adams leads the ground game with 450 yards and two TDs on 89 carries. He is averaging 5.1 yards per carry, and also has 12 catches for 92 yards. Tony Bria (sr. Warminster/William Tennent) has 21 yards and a score on 64 rushes, and 11 catches for 41 yards.

KU's offensive line consists of tackles Brian Long (jr. Souderton/Souderton) and Charlie Kehs (sr. Gilbertsville/Boyertown); guards Adam Ogorek (sr. West Chester/Henderson) and Dustin Woodward (jr. Lancaster/Penn Manor) and center Raymond Yannuzzi (jr. Wallingford/Strath Haven).

KU's defense put up a strong effort against the high powered Bloomsburg offense. KU held the Huskies 28 points below their season average of 40 points per game.
