KU scored late in the first half with 27 seconds left. Martin engineered a 11-play, 80-yard drive, hooking up with fellow freshman Brent Howard on a pair of 27-yard completions, setting up a five-yard TD to Harbach. It was the first TD for Martin in his first start, and the first time the junior receiver has gotten into the end zone for KU.
The TD was the first for the offense since October 1, spanning a string of 234 minutes, 59 seconds since a TD vs. West Chester with 10:26 left in the third quarter.
The Scots added a pair of 21 yard field goals in the third quarter by Kody Robertson, then scored again on a 14 yard run by Ulysee Davis with 8:50 left in the game.
KU's final chance to score came late in the fourth. On 4th and goal from the 17, Martin hit Harbach at the two, but he was knocked out of bounds.
