KU'S MICHAEL BALDWIN NAMED PSAC EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University's Michael Baldwin (sr. Philadelphia/Dobbins Tech), of the football team, has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Week.

 

            In KU's 31-28 loss to Southern Connecticut State, Baldwin turned in yet another outstanding effort in a heartbreaking Kutztown loss.  He posted five tackles, one of which was a loss of two yards, and added three pass break-ups.  Furthermore, he blocked a punt that led to a Kutztown touchdown, forced a fumble that halted a drive and picked off a pass which he returned 22 yards.

 

            The 6-0, 190 pound strong safety has tallied 20 tackles, including one for loss, this season.  He has five pass breakups, one interception, returned a fumble for a school-record 98 yard touchdown, forced two other fumbles and blocked two kicks.  

 

            Kutztown, which has lost all three of its games in 2005 by a combined 16 points, is off this week before returning to action September 24 at Mansfield.
