KU FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2007 RECRUITING CLASS

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University head football coach Raymond Monica has announced that 21 student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to join the Golden Bear football program.

 

            The recruiting class not only includes the 21 incoming freshmen, but also features a pair of transfers who have joined the Golden Bear program this spring.  

 

            The members of the 2007 Golden Bear football recruiting class are:

 

            Tony Akers (Kutztown/Kutztown HS) - a 6-0, 190 lb. wide receiver.  Akers was a National High School Coaches Association honoree.  An honor roll student, Akers plans to major in business management at KU.

            

            Bill Burke (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic HS) - a 6-3, 265 lb. offensive lineman.  Burke was a first-team All-Parochial and All-Conference selection while at Camden Catholic.  He plans to major in business-accounting at KU.

 

            Justin Clark (Kennett Square/Kennett HS) - a 6-3, 230 lb. quarterback.  Clark was a four-year captain and two-time team MVP.  He was selected to first-team all-league and second team all-county honors.  His major is undeclared.

 

            Kendell Coleman (Philadelphia/Martin Luther King HS) - a 5-6, 150 lb. running back/return specialist.  Coleman is a two-time All-Public League selection, and also earned all-city and all-state (honorable mention) awards.  His major at KU is undeclared.

 

            Jim Domzalski (Bensalem/Conwell-Egan HS) - a 6-2, 195 lb. wide receiver.  He will major in business at KU.

 

            Brandon Emerich (Pine Grove/Pine Grove HS) - a 6-0, 200 lb. running back.  Emerich was a PFN honorable mention all-state selection, two-time Schuylkill County All-Area selection on offense and a three-time Twin Valley Conference all-star selection.  He was also a four-year letterwinner in football and track & field.  An honor roll student, Emerich plans to major in criminal justice.

 

            Khaleel Evans (Philadelphia/Imhotep HS) - a 5-10, 185 lb. defensive back.  His major at Kutztown is undeclared.

 

            Khalief Evans (Philadelphia/Imhotep HS) - a 5-10, 185 lb. defensive back.  His major at KU is undeclared.

 

            Colin Henny (Lititz/Manheim Twp. HS) - a 6-4, 245 lb. defensive lineman.  Henny was a two-year letterwinner at Manheim Twp.  An honor roll student, Henny will be a business major at Kutztown.

 

            Drew Holmes (Philadelphia/Imhotep HS) - a 6-1, 185 lb. linebacker.  He will be a business major at Kutztown.

 

            Tom McCue (Levittown/Conwell-Egan HS) - a 6-1, 210 lb. linebacker.  McCue was an all-area and All-Catholic honoree at Conwell-Egan.  An honor student, McCue plans to major in business at Kutztown.

 

            Christopher McGee (Perkiomenville/Boyertown HS) - a 5-10, 190 lb. running back/defensive back.  McGee was a 2006 second-team All-State selection, the Pioneer Athletic Conference MVP, All-Berks defense (first team) and offense (second team), WPAZ offensive player of the year, team MVP and Boyertown's offensive and defensive back of the year.  An honor roll student, his major at KU is undeclared. 

 

            Aaron McGlynn (Harleysville/Souderton HS) - a 6-5, 325 lb. offensive lineman.  His major at Kutztown is undeclared.

 

            Christopher Medina (Kennett Square/Kennett HS) - a 6-4, 325 defensive lineman.  Medina was a first-team all-league selection as an offensive and defensive lineman. He was also a Valor Bowl Memorial award winner.  Medina's major at KU is undeclared.

 

            Trevor Morley (Westminster, MD/Delone Catholic {PA} HS) - a 6-2, 215 lb. linebacker.  His major at Kutztown will be business.

 

            Chris Oliver (Philadelphia/Germantown HS) - a 6-5, 250 lb. defensive lineman.  Oliver is a first-team All-Public League  and City All-Star team selection.  A team captain, Oliver's major at KU is undeclared.

 

            Joe Pilone (Milford, NJ/Delaware Valley Regional HS) - a 6-1, 200 lb. defensive back.  He will be a criminal justice major at Kutztown.

 

            Justin Smith (Somerset, NJ/Franklin HS) - a 5-8, 180 lb. running back/defensive back. Smith was an all-county and all-conference performer, with over 1,000 al-purpose yards in his senior year.  Also a standout in track & field, he helped lead his team to the Group III state championship.  He plans to major in electronic media at KU.

 

            Zachary Smitheman (Garnet Valley/Garnet Valley HS) - a 6-4, 250 lb. offensive lineman.  Smitheman was an honorable mention All-SCCL selection at Garnet Valley.  An honor roll student, Smitheman is planning to major in leisure and sport studies at KU.

 

            Nick Stramara (Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain HS) - a 6-3, 265. lb. defensive end.  Stramara was a co-captain and three-year letterwinner for Blue Mountain.  An honor roll student, Stramara plans to major in criminal justice.

 

            Trent Tolene (Linglestown/Central Dauphin HS) - a 6-2, 220 lb. defensive end.  Tolene was selected to first-team all-conference honors for offense and defense and was Central Dauphin's team MVP.  He plans to major in business at KU.

 

            The two transfers are:

 

            Mike Foust (Danville/Danville HS) - a 6-2, 187 lb. wide receiver.  Foust will be a sophomore, after transferring to KU from Mansfield University. Foust is a criminal justice major.

 

            Michael Gardier (Dunmore/Dunmore HS) - a 5-9, 175 lb. defensive back.  Gardier will be a sophomore, after transferring to KU from Mansfield University.  While at MU, Gardier earned All-PSAC East second team honors in 2006.  He led Mansfield with 84 tackles, with two interceptions and four pass breakups.   His major at Kutztown is undeclared.

 

            Kutztown's football team is coming off a 4-6 season in 2006, including a 2-4 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division.  KU's 2007 season is scheduled to begin on Sept. 1 at Southern Connecticut State.  

 

            Monica expects additional recruits to be announced in the near future.
