BOX SCORE

MILLERSVILLE, PA - Kyle Spotts scored on an 8-yard run to lift Kutztown to a 26-23 win over Millersville in three overtimes Saturday afternoon.

Spotts scored three TDs in the game, with the first two coming on QB sneaks. Dontay Wilson scored on a 5-yard run for KU's other TD. Kutztown finishes the year 5-6 overall, 2-3 and tied for third in the PSAC East. Millersville ends its year 3-8 overall, also 2-3 in the league.

The teams each missed a field goal in the first overtime, with John Banzhof missing from 37 yards for Millersville and Matt Dineen's 34 yarder was blocked for KU.

KU turned the ball over on downs in its possession in the second OT, but Banzhof's 35-yard attempt was wide left to send the game to the third OT.

Banzhof finally hit from 39 yards out to give Millersville a 23-20 lead in the third OT. KU moved to the eight yardline on a 1 yard run by Dontay Wilson and an 11-yard pass from Spotts to Elfren Quiles, to set up Spotts' game winning run.

The victory was the first in overtime for KU, after losing its first five OT contests. It was also the second most overtimes in program history, after the 2005 four-OT loss to Clarion.

Spotts completed 15-of-34 for 147 yards. He became the third player in KU history with over 6,000 career passing yards. He ran for 42 yards on 15 carries. Quiles caught six passes for 73 yards, finishing with 2,003 career yards at KU, one more than Andre Reed for 4th on KU's career list.

Brian Bingnear led all players with a career-high 22 tackles

Brad Lantz ran for 152 yards and two TDs for Millersville. Jamal Smith ran for 106 yards.

Lantz opened the scoring with a 2-yard run with 8:00 left in the first. Wilson's 5-yard run made it 7-6 with 2:14 left in the first half, but Ryan Nye's PAT was blocked.

Smith ran for 58 yards to the Millersville 4 with 30 seconds left before halftime, but two plays later, Lantz's run was stopped and the clock appeared to run out. However, after both teams had gone into the locker room, the referees conferred and called a delay of game penalty on KU for hitting the ball after the referees attempted to spot it after the run.

Millersville initially kicked a field goal, but KU had called a time out. The Marauders elected to go for it after the timeout, and QB Bill Shirk scored on a 1-yard run. The PAT failed, keeping it 13-6 at halftime.

Kutztown opened the second half with a 68-yard drive, Spotts capped it with a 1-yard run.

Spotts was intercepted on the 2nd play of the fourth quarter, and Lantz went in from 7 yards out four plays later for a 20-13 MU lead.

KU answered right back, marching 58 yards on 14 plays, with Spotts scoring his second TD, setting up the extra sessions.
