KU's ELFREN QUILES NAMED REGIONAL FINALIST FOR HARLON HILL TROPHY

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Kutztown University wide receiver Elfren Quiles (sr. New
Britain, CT/New Britain) is one of six Northeast Regional finalists for the
Harlon Hill Trophy as the NCAA Division II College Football player of the
Year.

A total of 24 candidates are in the running for the Harlon Hill
Trophy, including six from the Northeast Region. The other northeast region
candidates are QB Steve Armstrong (Southern Connecticut State), RB Jamar
Brittingham (Bloomsburg), DE Kirby Griffin (California {Pa.}), QB Trevor
Harris (Edinboro) and RB Dervon Wallace (Shepherd).

Quiles ranks second among NCAA Division II players in receiving
yards per game (118.7) this season. He has two of the top three single-game
performances in Division II this season, with a KU record 308 against
Bloomsburg and 211 against Southern Connecticut State. The yards against
Bloomsburg are the second most in a game in PSAC history. He also ranks
16th in receptions/game (6.4) and had eight touchdown catches in 10 games.

Quiles had a remarkable career, ranking among the all-time
leaders in Division II in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches.
He played two seasons at Merrimack before transferring to KU, leading the
nation in receiving yards/game as a freshman (140.6). In four seasons,
Quiles had 252 receptions (13th in Division II), 4,136 yards (11th) and 43
touchdowns (9th). In just two years at KU, Quiles had 2,003 yards, good for
fourth on KU's career list, one yard ahead of former NFL All-Pro Andre Reed.
He also had 20 touchdown grabs, tied for second on KU's career list. He set
Kutztown's single-season record for receiving yards with 1,187 in 2007, and
had a school-record 12 TD catches last year.

Harlon Hill candidates are nominated and voted on by the sports
information directors at the 150 NCAA Division II football-playing
institutions. The 24 initial candidates will be placed on regional ballots
and the top two from each of the four NCAA regions will advance to the
national ballot when regional voting concludes on Nov. 16.

The winner of the 2007 award, which is presented by the National
Harlon Hill Award Committee, will be announced at the 22nd annual
presentation banquet on Friday, Dec. 14 in Florence, Ala.
