KU's ELFREN QUILES NAMED PSAC EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University's Elfren Quiles (sr. New Britain, CT/New
Britain) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
Eastern Division Offensive Player of the Week.

 

            Quiles turned in a record-breaking performance in KU's 49-32
loss against Bloomsburg.  He caught 12 passes for 308 yards and two
touchdowns.  The yardage broke his own single-game school record of 211 set
earlier this year vs. Southern Connecticut.  It is also the second-highest
total in PSAC history and the most in Division II this season. 

 

            Quiles has already set Kutztown's single-season record for
receiving yards with 951, passing the previous mark of 940 set by Mark
Steinmeyer in 1990.  He leads all Division II receivers in yards per game
(158.5), and has 12 touchdown catches among his 47 receptions.   His 7.8
receptions per game ranks fourth in Division II.  He also ranks among the
all-time Division II career leaders in receiving yards (12th, 3,900),
touchdown catches (14th, 40) and receptions (22nd, 235).  

 

            Kutztown (3-3, 0-1 PSAC East) returns to action on Saturday at
West Chester for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
