KU'S PORRINO NAMED PSAC EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University's Cory Porrino (sr. Orwigsburg/Blue
Mountain) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Week.

 

            Porrino keyed a superb fourth-quarter defensive effort for
Kutztown in a 28-16 win over Shippensburg on Saturday.  The safety was
responsible for stopping two possessions inside the Kutztown 5-yard line in
the final quarter as the Golden Bears preserved the 12-point win.  Porrino
intercepted a pass in the end zone, then broke up a fourth-down pass inside
the five on Shippensburg's next possession. He finished with eight tackles,
including one for loss. 

 

            In three games, Porrino has 17 tackles, including four for loss.
The interception and pass breakups vs. Shippensburg were his first of the
season.  

 

            Kutztown is 2-1 on the year and travels to Slippery Rock for a
7:00 p.m. contest Saturday night.
