Thanh et al,
Just to clarify...there are several other individuals on campus who have the
authority to close the MSU for various reasons: weather, health and safety
issues, utility problems, hazmat, etc. In almost all of these situations,
the word will come to me from a VP or AVP and I will pass this one to you.
Thanks, Mike

Severe Weather Information.
Please keep in mind the scenarios with severe weather affecting the
opening/closing of the building. Mike Demetor is the only person authorized
to close the building early or open it late. The phone chain must be
current, so please make sure your phone numbers are correct (and have your
supervisor's #). If they aren't please notify your supervisor ASAP. If
severe weather is forecast, please meet with your supervisor to plan on
proper situational procedures (e.g. just in case procedures). This could
include using the override key the night during closing, or having someone
else come in because of a long commute to open the building, etc. Other
procedures when arriving during a severe weather period includes contacting
customers about room usage, updating AxisTV's messages, posting information
by doors, calling facilities/public safety if needed and communicating with
the next staff members to get them up to speed (including info staff).
Remember, even if classes are cancelled, it is very likely the building may
be open and everyone would be required to work their normal shift. Further
discussion on Severe Weather will take place in meetings.
KU Radio Station information.
Good morning, beginning January 30th KUR Radio will be extending their week
day hours to 6am to 1am. Please let your staff know that their will be a
student in the radio station in the mornings before the building is open and
at night after we close. If they have a question please remind them to look
up access privileges in the binder at the front desk. It will show which
students have earlier morning and late night access. The radio station
members should only be using the Alumni Auditorium entrance and be in their
respective area.
Table Storage Information.
Tables are stored in a few locations: 183 coatroom, 218 closet, 250 closet,
223 closet, 225 coatroom and 157 Storage. Currently, tables are marked with
blue, yellow or orange tape on 8' Mitylite tables. Orange 8' tables belong
to room 250, yellow orange tape belong to 183 closet and blue/no tape belong
to 218, MPR. The blue taped tables signify good condition 8' tables while
tables with no label signify acceptable conditioned tables. Also, please
continue to wipe down the tables after use with the cleaning solution and
rag in 218 table closet. Feel free to ask custodial staff for refills or new
rags.
New Tables for 250.
New folding 6' tables (similar to the tables for 223) will be arriving for
room 250. I would like to test the setup and storage for these tables before
we put them into use when they arrive. I will let everyone know when and how
they will be used. I would like to label/inventory the tables.
AV Upgrade in 183 Alumni Auditorium.
As we get closer to the completion of the Alumni Auditorium AV upgrade
project, many AV related items will change. We are adding a MML down to 183
with the inputs/outputs in a plate behind the curtain and also utilizing the
AMX touch panel to control everything. The touch panel will need some
training from out staff to our customers. We will be putting more control in
our customer's hands, literally. We must keep the 183 MML secured and the
appropriate procedures will be supplied for it. I will let everyone know
when it's online and provide the training for its use. In the meantime, I've
instructed the installers that the system must maintain its usability how
everyone currently knows how to use it. In the meantime, please keep the
room locked until the installers ask for it to be opened
Info Center Ticketing Computer.
I've added a shortcut to anyone that logs onto the ticketing computer to
access the Room Schedule Signage. It will be on a folder on the desktop to
print fill and print out room signs. If someone doesn't have access, they
will not be able to open the folder and will need to contact Lori or myself.
