Dihr liewe Leit,

the exact figures from the Census 2000 are the following for Monroe County:

German: 1325
Pennsylvania Dutch: 180
Dutch: 85

My impression is that most of the dialect speakers in Monroe County live around Kresgeville and Kunkletown.

Mach's gut,

Frank

PS: since a few months the Pocono Record has started to report more frequently about the Pennsylvania Germans. I am very pleased with this development.

	Subject: [Pgla] query

I got an inquiry from the Pocono Record:

Does anyone have the approximate number of PG speakers in PA?

Also does anyone know about how many PG speakers there are in Monroe County?

	Thanks,

	Bill
