Liewe Freind,
I would like to share the following information with you: in 2002 the U.S. Census Bureau released a report showing New Ulm in Minnesota has more citizens of German descent per capita than any other city in the U.S. and they are keeping the German heritage alive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:New_ulm_police.jpg <BLOCKED::http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:New_ulm_police.jpg> and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Ulm,_Minnesota <BLOCKED::http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Ulm,_Minnesota>
GERMAN CLASSES COMING TO NEW ULM
New Ulm, home of Hermann the German, Schell's Brewery, and a community that still actively promotes its German heritage, will be the first expansion site for Language Services beyond the metro area. Beginning this fall, the GAI will be offering one Beginning German class for adults & teens and a Samstagsschule with two levels of classes for children. Classes will be held once a week in the New Ulm Public Library, starting Tuesday, September 11th for adults and Saturday, September 29th for kids. The GAI is excited to help this Minnesota town maintain and strengthen its deep German roots and connection to the language.
Please have also a look at the homepage of the Germanic - American Institute, a very acitve organization for the promotion of German heritage, language and culture in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin:
