ST. LOUIS SELECT KU’S KYLE SADLOWSKI

KUTZTOWN, PA – Kyle Sadlowski (jr. Reading/Reading) of the Kutztown 
University baseball team was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in 
the 34th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on 
Wednesday.  He was the 1,040th overall pick.

	Sadlowski, a right-handed pitcher, was 9-4 with a 3.78 earned 
run average for the Golden Bears in 2005, with 73 strikeouts and just 
26 walks in 83.1 innings pitched.  He was second on the team in wins, 
strikeouts, innings and was third on the club with three complete 
games in 13 starts. 
	For his career, the right-hander is 19-8 with 139 punchouts in 
170.1 innings, as well as a 3.91 ERA.  His 19 wins rank fifth all-time 
at KU.   
      With his selection, Sadlowksi joins former Golden Bears Ryan 
Voglesong, Glenn Woolard, Tim Bausher and Ron Chiavacci in the 
professional ranks.  Voglesong was a fifth round pick by the San 
Francisco Giants in 1998 and currently pitches for the Pittsburgh 
Pirates.  Woolard, a 10th round selection by the Giants, is currently 
at Double-A Huntsville in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.  Bausher 
was originally a 27th round pick of the Seattle Mariners and is 
presently at Pawtucket, the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.  
Chiavacci was selected by the Montreal Expos in the 44th round in 1998 
and is currently with the Indianapolis Indians, Triple-A affiliate of 
the Pittsburg Pirates.

	Kutztown finished its season with a 39-18 record, establishing 
a school record for wins in a season.  KU was 10-8 in the PSAC and won 
the PSAC Championship tournament.  The squad also advanced to the 
North Atlantic Regional, placing third.
