KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S SOCCER AND FIELD HOCKEY TEAMS REGIONALLY RANKED

KUTZTOWN, PA - The Kutztown University (KU) women's soccer and field hockey teams have both been included in the first NCAA regional rankings of the season released October 11. The NCAA Division II Women's Soccer committee has ranked KU eighth and the Field Hockey Committee has ranked the Golden Bears' squad fifth.

The NCAA Division II women's soccer championship will be a 32-team, single elimination tournament with four teams from each region being selected. The soccer team currently has an overall record of 7-5-3. They are coming off of a hard fought double-overtime tie with Mansfield on Saturday. The Golden Bears' upcoming schedule includes two huge matches at home against New Haven and West Chester. West Chester is ranked first overall and New Haven is one spot ahead of KU in a three-way tie for fifth. The women have won four of their last six matches.

The field hockey team is two spots out of the third and final playoff position in the south region. The team is toting an overall record of 10-6, with an in-region 7-5 record. Coming off of back-to-back road victories, the Golden Bears will now concentrate on its next four matches, all of which are against the four teams ahead of them in the rankings. They will take on Bloomsburg, Indiana (PA), Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg, ranked 1-4 in that order. Three of those four games are at home.
