KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY 56th IN DIRECTORS' CUP AFTER WINTER SEASON
 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University is in 56th place in the Directors' Cup at the completion of the winter sports season.

 

            The Sports Academy Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  The United State Sports Academy, based in Daphne, Alabama, is the program sponsor.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish at NCAA Championships in up to 14 sports - seven women's and seven men's.

 

            Grand Valley State remains in first.  UC San Diego stays in second while Adams State moved into third.  Colorado School of Mines is ahead of Kutztown in 55th place.  Alaska Anchorage is in 57th. 

 

            West Chester leads the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools, moving up to 14th place.  Indiana (PA) remains in 24th, Lock Haven fell to 25th and Bloomsburg is now 26th.  Edinboro is 45th, Clarion 53rd.  Following KU is Shippensburg in 64th and Slippery Rock in 86th.

 

            Highlights from the winter season included wrestler Joe Kemmerer (jr. Mountaintop/Crestwood HS) winning the NCAA Division II 133 lb. Championship and Ashley Singer (jr. Lititz/Warwick) competing at the NCAA Division II swimming championships.
