KUTZTOWN BASEBALL RANKED FIRST IN NORTH ATLANTIC REGION 

KUTZTOWN, PA - The Kutztown University baseball team is ranked first in the initial poll of the NCAA Division II North Atlantic region according to the April 19th poll released by the NCAA Division II committee.  

            The Golden Bears, under the direction of head coach Chris Blum, hold a 30-3 record overall and an 11-1 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division.

            Other PSAC teams in the rankings are California {PA} (22-11) at #2, Slippery Rock (20-10) at #3, West Chester (20-11) ranked #4 and Shippensburg (18-15) at #6.         

            The top six teams in each region of the NCAA Division II poll determine the participants in the NCAA Championships.  The winner of a conference tournament receives an automatic berth.  Regionals are set for Thursday May 17th through Sunday May 20th at site to de determined.

            In other poll news, Kutztown remained third in the national rankings, according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.  Also this week, Kutztown remained atop the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association North Atlantic Regional poll and is third in its national rakings. 

            Kutztown will take on Felician today in a doubleheader at Richmond County Bank Ballpark in Staten Island, NY.  First pitch was at 1:00 PM.
