MAROON & GOLD FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE, SOFTBALL TWINBILL HIGHLIGHT "SUPER SATURDAY"

KUTZTOWN, PA - With the weather forecast finally looking like spring has arrived, it will be "Super Saturday" on and around the campus of Kutztown University, with a full slate of athletic events scheduled tomorrow (April 21).

The red-hot Golden Bear softball team looks to clinch a playoff spot and extend its school record winning streak with a doubleheader against Shippensburg starting at 1:00 PM at North Campus Field. Capping the schedule will be the annual Maroon & Gold football scrimmage at University Field, starting at 4:00 PM.

The softball team can clinch a berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs with one or two wins against the Lady Raiders. Depending on the outcome of Friday and Saturday's other division games (KU does not play Friday), the Golden Bears not only can clinch the playoff berth, but could also win the PSAC East regular-season title. The winner of the PSAC East title earns the right to host the conference championship tournament, May 3-5.

The KU football team will square off in its annual intra-squad scrimmage Saturday afternoon. It will be the offense vs. the defense, using a modified scoring system. Last year, the offense won, 53-36.

Also on Saturday, the women's golf team will host day two of the Golden Bear Invitational at Berkleigh Country Club, just minutes south of campus. The eight-team tournament will get started at 1:30 PM.

In non-traditional competition, the KU field hockey team will host an 11-on-11 tournament beginning at 11:00 AM at University Field. Also, the Golden Bear men's soccer team hosts its annual alumni game at 11:00 AM at Keystone Field.

Admission to all events is free and open to the public.

Kutztown's baseball, men's tennis and track & field teams all compete on the road on Saturday.
