KUTZTOWN TO HOST 2007 PSAC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University will serve as host for the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships, this Thursday-Saturday, May 3-5.  

 

            The six-team, double-elimination tournament will begin on Thursday and continue through Saturday.  Kutztown and Lock Haven have clinched the #1 seeds from the PSAC East and West, respectively.  Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg are the #2 and #3 seeds from the East.  California (PA) and Edinboro have clinched the remaining Western berths, but their seeding order will be determined by a makeup doubleheader on Tuesday, May 1.

 

            Bloomsburg will play the West #3 seed at 10:00 AM Thursday.  East Stroudsburg will play the West #2 seed at noon.  Lock Haven will take on the winner of game one at 2:30 PM and the host Golden Bears will take on the winner of game 2 at 4:30 PM.

 

            The losers of games one and two face off in the first elimination game at 10:00 AM Friday.  The losers of games three and four play at noon.  The winners bracket game between the winners of games three and four play at 2:30, followed by the winners of games five and six at 4:30 PM. 

 

            Saturday's games begin at 11:00 AM with the winner of game eight vs. the loser of game seven.  The Championship round follows at 1:00 PM, with another game to follow if necessary.

 

            Ticket prices are $7 for adults.  A tournament pass may be purchased on Thursday for $15.   Student tickets are $2 for students from non PSAC institution.  Students of PSAC institutions will be admitted free with a valid ID.   

 

            All games will be played at Kutztown University's North Campus Field.
