KELTY, WORLEY NAMED WOMEN'S SOCCER CAPTAINS AT KU



KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Seniors Kim Kelty (Levittown/Neshaminy) and Becky Worley 
(Downingtown/Downingtown West) were named captains for Kutztown University's 
2007 women's soccer team.



            First-year head coach Erik Burstein, who takes over a KU team 
that has recorded five consecutive double-digit winning seasons, made the 
announcement Wednesday.



            "Kim and Becky are perfect leaders," he said. "Their commitment 
and dedication to our program is truly unmatched and I am confident they 
will be tremendous representatives for the program both on and off the 
field."



            Kelty, who won the PSAC Rookie of the Year Award in 2004, has 14 
career goals for KU. She was named to the All-PSAC First Team three times 
and the All-Northeast Region Second Team twice, in 2005 and 2006. The 
midfielder who will move up to forward this season, led the team in scoring 
last season, with five goals and four assists. Worley started on defense in 
all 21 games last season, anchoring a defense that allowed just 1.35 goals 
per game.



            The two seniors, who have led KU to 38 wins in the last three 
years, will look to lead a young cast of 13 freshmen and experienced 
starters to another PSAC postseason berth.



            "This is an important year for our program and I am very 
fortunate to have a group of players who believe in what we are trying to 
achieve," Burstein said. "Kim and Becky are two perfect examples of that and 
I am very fortunate to have them."



            KU finished 10-8-3 overall last season and 7-3-2 in the PSAC 
East, eventually falling to West Chester 4-2 in the PSAC semifinals.



            The Golden Bears will open the season at 2 p.m. on Aug. 25 at 
Lock Haven.
