KUTZTOWN'S SARAH BRANDON NAMED TO PSAC FALL TOP TEN

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University's Sarah Brandon (sr. Gibsonia/Pine-Richland HS), of the women's volleyball team, has been named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Fall Top Ten in voting conducted by the league's sports information directors.

 

            The Top Ten awards recognize student-athletes who distinguish themselves in the classroom as well as in the arena of competition. To be a candidate, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.25 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must be a starter or key reserve in their respective sport. The conference designates Top Ten awards after each of the sports seasons: fall, winter and spring.

 

            Brandon holds a 3.70 GPA in psychology.  The record-breaking senior opposite-side hitter has been showered with awards in her career.  This season, Brandon was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Year, first-team All-PSAC East, Daktronics Division II All-America, AVCA honorable mention All-America, Daktronics and AVCA first-team All-Region and ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District second team.  She led the PSAC in kills per game (4.33), while ranking fifth in blocks (1.29) and sixth in hitting percentage (.337).  Brandon finished her career with a school and PSAC East record 1,840 kills.  She was a four-time All-PSAC selection, three-time PSAC East Player of the Year and five-time all-region performer.  

 

            Brandon was joined on the Top Ten by Zac Barton (Bloomsburg, Football), Nicole Blaesser (Indiana {PA}, Cross Country), Mike Butterworth (Slippery Rock, Football), Anthony Cellitti (Indiana {PA}, Football), Amber Hackenberg (Bloomsburg, Cross Country), Julie Karcher (West Chester, Soccer), Rachel Lanzel (Edinboro, Cross Country), Chris Robson (Lock Haven, Cross Country) and Jimmy Terwilliger (East Stroudsburg, Football).
