KU's BRIAN BINGNEAR NAMED TO FOOTBALL GAZETTE ALL-AMERICA TEAM

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University's Brian Bingnear (jr. Boothwyn/Chichester HS), was named to the Don Hansen's Football Gazette 2006 NCAA Division II All-America Team.

 

            Bingnear was named to the third team defense.  A 6-0, 180 lb. junior, Bingnear started all ten games last fall.  He led the team with 90 total tackles, 58 assisted and 32 unassisted, one tackle for a loss, four interceptions, and one forced fumble.

Previously, Bingnear was named to the Football Gazette All-Northeast Region first team, Daktronics All-Northeast Region second team and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East first team. In three seasons at KU, Bingnear has recorded 158 tackles. 

This marks the 19th year the Don Hansen's Football Gazette has recognized an NCAA Division II All-America team.  This award is a recognized authority on small college football, and gave the honor to 165 players from 79 of the 150 football-playing schools in Division II.  
 

The Golden Bears football team finished the season with a 4-6 record and 2-4 in the PSAC.
