KU's LAURA BELFATTI NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

 

KUTZTOWN, PA - Kutztown University's Laura Belfatti (sr. Hatfield/Lansdale Catholic), of the field hockey team, has been named to the 2006-07 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II college division women's at-large second team.

 

            Belfatti, who graduated in May with a degree in elementary education, had a grade-point average of 3.93.  Last fall, Belfatti was named first-team Division II All-America by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and first-team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).  A midfielder, Belfatti scored six goals and had three assists for KU during the fall 2006 season

 

            For her career, she scored 13 goals and had 30 points.  She was a four-time NFHCA All-Academic Squad and PSAC Scholar-Athlete selection, and was named All-PSAC first team twice.

 

The District II College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA colleges and universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve on her team.
