KU Field Hockey Ranked No. 4 in Division II

 

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - After knocking off then-No. 2 Shippensburg, the undefeated
Kutztown University field hockey team moved from No. 6 to No. 4 in the
STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II poll.

 

Bloomsburg is ranked No. 1, followed by No. 2 Stonehill College and No. 3
Indiana (Pa.). Rounding out the top five is the University of Massachusetts
Lowell.

 

KU (6-0, 1-0) shocked Shippensburg, which dropped to No. 9 in the poll,
scoring three goals in the final 15 minutes to collect the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference win. Kelley Healey (jr. Toms River, N.J./Toms
River North) scored twice, including the game-winning goal, to give the
Golden Bears the big win.

 

Healey leads the team with 21 points, seven goals and seven assists, while
Lyndsay Butler (so. Annandale, N.J./Summit) has seven goals and five
assists.

 

KU is averaging 6.14 goals per game while allowing 1.02 per game, outscoring
opponents 30-5. KU's second-half play has been a big reason for the team's
success, as 20 of the Golden Bears' 30 goals came in the second half.

 

Golden Bears keeper Sam Flowers (sr. Harleysville/Souderton) is 6-0 in net
with a 1.11 goals against average and 24 saves.

 

KU will be back in action with its second PSAC contest against Millersville
at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
