KUTZTOWN, Pa.-- Kutztown University softball players Katlin Arbogast (so. Ambler/Wissahickon) and Ashley Fitzgerald (jr. Kitchener, ONTARIO/Resurrection) have been rewarded for their quick start this season by being named PSAC East pitcher and player of the week, respectively, for their efforts so far this season.

Fitzgerald is hitting .426 and has 26 hits in 61 at bats this year. She has launched six home runs and 18 RBI on the young season while slugging .852.  In Kutztown's 10-1 defeat of Pikeville College on March 13 where she went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs and three runs scored.

Arbogast is 10-2 on the season with three shutouts and one no-hitter.  In 70 innings, she has struck out 104 batters and has a 2.00 ERA, while opponents are hitting .205 off of her. The sophomore has struck out ten or more batters seven times so far this year.  In her seven-inning no-hitter against Coker on March 1, she fanned twelve batters and walked only two. Arbogast eclipsed KU's school record of 391 strikeouts on March 12.

KU (17-4, 0-0 PSAC East) will next be in action Thursday, March 20 as it travels to Salem, Va. for the Salem Invitational to play five games in three days.
