Elizabeth Lord, of the women's outdoor track & field team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Lord won the discus with a PSAC-season best toss of 137-7 to help the Golden Bears to the team title at the PSAC East challenge on Saturday at West Chester.

MON 4/4 - West Chester 11, KU 0 - West Chester scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break open a close game and defeat KU, 11-0. The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the second, the WCU hurler shut KU down the rest of the way. Josh Fink (jr. Hatfield/North Penn) and Paul Koropchak (sr. Pottsville/North Schuylkill) had two of KU's three hits, both doubles.
West Chester 2, KU 1 - A single with one out in the bottom of the seventh gave West Chester a 2-1 win and a sweep of the doubleheader. KU tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth on an RBI single by Kyle Costello (jr. Plains/Coughlin) that plated Mike McCardell (so. West Chester/Henderson). Fink was 2-for-3. Matt Keller (jr. Fleetwood/Fleetwood) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing six hits and two runs over 6.1 innings. He had three strikeouts.
WED 4/6 - KU 4, SHIPPENSBURG 2 - Kutztown scored all four of its runs in the fourth inning to pick up a 4-2 win over Shippensburg in a non-conference match up. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Clay Kuklick (sr. North Wales/North Penn) and Jeff Craig (so. Wilkes-Barre/Bishop Hoban) walked and scored on back-to-back singles by McCardell and Ryan Loper (so. Boiling Springs/Cumberland Valley). A Costello fielder's choice plated McCardell to make the lead 3-0. Phil Cavalcante's (sr. Norristown/Kennedy Kenrick) RBI single scored Loper to cap the inning. The Golden Bears turned a pair of double plays and Kuklick threw out three would-be base stealers. Loper started on the mound and went five innings to pick up his third win of the season. He allowed just one unearned run on eight hits and a walk. Kyle Sadlowski (jr. Reading/Central Catholic) struck out two in a scoreless ninth for his first career save. Kuklick was 1-for-3.
FRI 4/8 - KU 6, BLOOMSBURG 1 - Matt Maradeo (jr. Nesquehoning/Panther Valley) scattered three hits over six innings, and Tony Riegel (sr. Exeter/Exeter) was 2-for-2 with two RBI as KU defeated Bloomsburg 6-1 in the first game of a PSAC East doubleheader. Maradeo struck out five batters and allowed just one run for his fourth win of the year (4-4). Craig was 2-for-3 with two runs, while Costello was 2-for-3. Fink doubled and scored on McCardell's single in the first, Riegel drove in Craig for a 2-0 lead in the second. Riegel then doubled in Koropchak and scored on a sac fly by Kuklick in the fourth. After Bloomsburg pulled within 4-1 in the sixth, Gary Stricker (jr. Croydon/Conwell Egan-Catholic) doubled in Craig and Riegel scored on a groundout by Fink for the final scoring.
KU 11, BLOOMSBURG 4 - KU used a pair of big innings to defeat Bloomsburg 11-4 and complete the sweep Friday afternoon. Costello was 2-for-4 with four RBI, while Craig was 2-for-4 with two RBI and McCardell was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Down 2-0 in the third, KU scored five runs on a two-run triple by Craig, an RBI single by Costello and a two-run homer by McCardell. Bloomsburg inched back to 5-4 in the sixth, but KU erupted for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to put it away. Koropchak started the rally with an RBI single, followed later by a two-run base knock by Stricker and a three-run double by Costello. Sadlowski (6-1) was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs with six strikeouts. Kevin Morganti (fr. Muhlenberg/Muhlenberg) hurled a scoreless seventh inning.
SAT 4/9 - KU 5, Bloomsburg 4 - An RBI double by Riegel in the ninth inning plated Koropchak with the winning run as KU outlasted Bloomsburg, 5-4, in a PSAC East contest. The Huskies tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the contest to extra innings. The Golden Bears jumped out to a 4-2 lead early, behind a pair of runs in the third and single runs in both the fourth and seventh. McCardell started on the hill and went six innings. He struck out five and allowed two runs on nine hits and a walk. Keller worked three innings to notch his sixth win of the year. Kuklick was 2-for-4 at the plate. Koropchak went 3-for-3, scoring twice and Riegel had a pair of RBI.
Bloomsburg 12, KU 9 - A four-run rally in the seventh was not enough, as the Golden Bears fell to Bloomsburg, 12-9 in game two. With KU trailing 12-5, Costello folbelted a two run homer to cut the lead to 12-7. McCardell came up next and doubled. After a strikeout, Scott Senna (sr. North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield) singled in pinch runner John Shade (so. Reading/Muhlenberg), and a Kuklick hit brought Loper to the plate. Loper drove in both runners to chop two more runs off the deficit and make it 12-9. Fink stepped to the plate as the tying run with two outs, but flew out to left. Bloomsburg jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning. Craig went 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Costello finished 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Matt Dierolf (fr. Boyertown/Boyertown) and Kuklick were each 2-for-2.
SUN 4/10 - KU 7, Clarion 4 - The Golden Bears scored four runs in the final two innings to take a 7-4 win over Clarion in the first game of a PSAC inter-division doubleheader. In the sixth, McCardell cracked and RBI single and later scored on a Tony Riegel groundout. Bryan Riggins (fr. Glenmoore/Downingtown East) doubled home Senna later in the inning. McCardell added an RBI double in Kutztown's three-run third inning. Fink, Craig, and McCardell all had three hits for the Golden Bears. Phil Rummel (fr. Exeter/West-Mont Christian) picked up the win in relief of starter Loper. Rummel tossed the final 2.1 innings, allowing two hits and striking out two. He allowed one unearned run.
KU 15, Clarion 9 - The Golden Bears scored 14 runs in the first four innings to cruise to a 15-9 win and complete the sweep. Costello slammed a solo home run to start a three-run, two-out rally in the first. Costello went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. Cavalcante and Tony Riegel had run-scoring singles in the first, as well. Cavalcante had a two-run single to cap a three-run second and was 3-for-4 with four RBI in the game. In the fourth, Kyle Kaschak (jr. New Providence/Solanco), who drove in three runs, had an RBI single in the fourth and Jerome Ellison (fr. Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) smoked an RBI double. Koropchak, Cavalcante, Kaschak, Ellison and Riggins all drove home runs as the Golden Bears scored five times in the fifth. Koropchak batted 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Senna went 3-for-3. Keller notched his seventh win of the season. He started the game and pitched the first five innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He fanned three.

TUE 4/5 - Bloomsburg 1, KU 0 - KU managed just three hits in a 1-0 loss at Bloomsburg Tuesday afternoon. KU loaded the bases in the top of the seventh when Erin Livingston (sr. Philadelphia/Archbishop Carroll) walked, Megan Alexander (so. Mechanicsburg/Mechanicsburg) singled and Dani Wunderlich (so. Douglasville/Daniel Boone) walked with two outs. Adriane Willmer (so. Kitchener, ONT/Resurrection) grounded out to short stop to end the rally and the game. Rachel Weidensaul (fr. Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) was the losing pitcher, allowing seven hits and one earned run with five strikeouts.
KU 5, Bloomsburg 3 - Livingston and Tarin Horonzy (fr. Fleetwood/Fleetwood) belted home runs to lead Kutztown to a 5-3 win over Bloomsburg in the nightcap. Livingston, 1-for-3, gave KU the lead with a two-run homer in the first inning. BU, though, took a 3-2 lead after the third. KU bounced back when Livingston reached on an error and Lindsay Bennett (fr. Rising Sun, MD/Rising Sun) singled to start the fourth. Horonzy, 1-for-3, blasted a three-run dinger to give KU the lead for good. Stacey Denlinger (jr. Harleysville/Souderton) relieved Cheryl Griffith (sr. Bethlehem/Freedom) in the first inning and went the rest of the way, striking out eight, for the win. The win snapped Bloomsburg's 19-game winning streak.
FRI 4/8 - KU 5, EAST STROUDSBURG 1 - The Golden Bears scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie and pick up a 5-1 win over East Stroudsburg in a PSAC East contest. The Golden Bears cranked out four straight singles to start the sixth inning, with Willmer leading off. She later scored on a Stacy Bricker (sr. Kutztown/Kutztown) single. Livingston followed with a base hit that scored both Bricker and Jackie Messina (fr. Allentown/Parkland) to make the score 4-1. Pinch runner Malarie Caserta (fr. Philadelphia/West Catholic) crossed home plate on a wild pitch to cap the scoring. Weidensaul started inside the circle and went five innings. She allowed four hits and a walk, striking out three and surrendering the lone ESU run. Griffith notched her sixth win of the season with two innings of hitless relief. Willmer was 2-for-3 and scored twice. Both Bricker and Livingston drove in two runs.
EAST STROUDSBURG 9, KU 2 - Kutztown fell in game two of the doubleheader, 9-2. The Golden Bears led 2-1 after three innings. In the first, Messina singled and scored on a double by Stacy Bricker. KU added another run in the third when Bricker singled in Willmer. Bricker was 2-for-3 and drove in both KU runs. Alexander also collected a pair of hits.
SUN 4/10 - KU 7, Mansfield 3 -Horonzy and Sam Flowers (fr. Harleysville/Souderton) stroked two-run doubles in a five-run ninth inning as Kutztown picked up a 7-3 win in extra innings over Mansfield in game one of a PSAC East doubleheader. With the game tied at 2-2 in the ninth, Wunderlich led off with a base hit and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bennett. The Golden Bears took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning, behind Horonzy's first double, which scored Willmer and Messina. Weidensaul picked up the win in relief. She tossed three innings, allowing one run on five hits. Griffith started in the circle and pitched the first six innings. Messina was 3-for-3 in the game, doubled and scored twice. Horonzy went 2-for-4 with four RBI. Flowers also collected two hits and had a pair of RBI.
KU 4, Mansfield - Horonzy had a game-winning single in the fifth inning, as KU picked up a 4-3 win and a PSAC East sweep over Mansfield. Jackie Messina scored on the two out knock by Horonzy. The Golden Bears got on the board first, with three runs in the first inning. Willmer singled, Wunderlich was hit by a pitch and and Messina bunted her way on to load the bases. Livingston followed with a two-run single, and Horonzy had a sacrifice fly to cap the inning. Mansfield tied it in the second, before Horonzy's game winner. Denlinger threw 5.2 innings of scoreless relief to improve to 7-4 on the year. She allowed just two hits and two walks, striking out three. Willmer went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead KU. Messina was 2-for-4 and scored twice. Livingston was also 2-for-4, driving in two.

TUE 4/5 - KU 9, West Chester 0 - Kutztown won all nine matches as the Golden Bears rolled past West Chester in a PSAC match. In doubles play, Harsh Sharma (jr. Calcutta, INDIA) and Ilja Semjonovs (jr. Liepaja, LATVIA) won 8-2 at first doubles. The teams of Lukas Beman (so. Woodend, AUSTRALIA) and Somdeep Appineni (so. Hyderabad, INDIA) and Thomas Miller (fr. Tuscarora/Tamaqua) and Matt Gawrych (fr. Burlington, NJ/Holy Cross) won matches at second and third doubles. In singles play, all six KU players won in straight sets. Both Beman and Nick Gallagher (fr. King of Prussia/Upper Merion) lost only one game in their victories at fifth and sixth singles. Sharma was a winner at first singles, with Radoslaw Hlubinski (jr. Warsaw, POLAND) winning at second doubles. Semjonovs picked up the win at third singles, with Appineni following suit at fourth singles.
FRI 4/8 - KU 9, ADELPHI 0 - The Golden Bears remained undefeated with a 9-0 sweep of Adelphi at the KU Courts. In doubles play, Mukundan Nandakumar (sr. Chennai, INDIA) and Sharma notched the win at first doubles. Hlubinski and Appineni shut out their foes, 8-0, at second doubles. The duo of Semjonovs/Beman took the win at third doubles. In singles play, winners at first-through-sixth singles, respectively, were Nandakumar, Hlubinski, Semjonovs, Beman, Gawrych and Miller.
SAT 4/9 - KU 9, EAST STROUDSBURG 0 - Kutztown picked up its third sweep of the week with a 9-0 pasting of East Stroudsburg in a PSAC match. Hlubinski and Appineni won at first doubles and Beman/Gallagher notched the win at second doubles. KU won each singles match in straight sets, led by Nandakumar, who did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. Hlubinski won at third singles, dropping just one game, as did Semjonovs at fifth singles. Sharma was a winner at second singles and Appineni won at fourth singles. The Golden Bears won matches at third doubles and sixth singles by default.
KU 8, QUEENS (NY) 1 - Kutztown kept its unbeaten season alive, winning 8-1 at Queens College in New York. Nandakumar/Sharma and Hlubinski/Appineni won at first and second doubles. At third doubles, Beman/Semjonovs needed an extra game to pick up their win, 9-8. In singles, both Sharma and Semjonovs were taken to third set super-tiebreakers, but escaped with wins. Sharma won his tie-breaker at first singles, 10-5, while Semjonovs took a 10-3 win in his at fourth singles. At second singles, it was Nandakumar winning his match, dropping just two games in the process. Hlubinski was a winner at third singles and Appineni won at fifth singles.

TUE 4/5 - KU 8, West Chester 1 - The Golden Bears won their seventh straight with an 8-1 win over West Chester. None of the three doubles tandems for KU lost more than one game. Kerstin Kloeffer (so. Ludwigs Hafen, GERMANY) and Amy Withers (fr. Essendon, AUSTRALIA) won 8-1 at first doubles. Jharna Nansi (so. Mumbai, INDIA) and Priya Pachkawde (so. Nasik, INDIA) shut out their opponents, 8-0, at second doubles and Lauren Losoncy (jr. Shillington/Governor Mifflin) and Vanessa Walsh (fr. Scranton/Bishop Hannan) notched the 8-1 win at third doubles. All five of KU's singles winners won in straight sets. Withers won at second singles without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0. Kloeffer and Pachkawde won at first and third singles. Each player lost just two games in their victories. Losoncy won at fourth singles and Kristen Bodalski (jr. Media/Cardinal O'Hara) picked up the sixth singles point for the Golden Bears.

Ludwigs Hafen, GERMANY) and Losoncy gave KU the doubles sweep. Nansi/Pachkawde notched an 8-1 win at second doubles. Singles winners at first-through-sixth, respectively, were Kloeffer, Withers, Pachkawde, Losoncy, Bodalski and Walsh.
SUN 4/10 - KU 9, Queens (NY) 0 - The Golden Bears swept their third opponent in a row, with a 9-0 shutout of Queens (NY). Kloeffer/Withers, Nansi/Pachkawde and Blatz/Losoncy swept the doubles action. Singles winners at first-through-sixth, respectively, were Kloeffer, Withers, Pachkawde, Nansi, Losoncy and Bodalski.

SAT 4/9 - at PSAC East Challenge (West Chester, PA)
Men: 2nd/7 - Dan Wilson (so. Hatboro/Hatboro-Horsham), Mike Provenzano (jr. Carlisle/Carlisle), Dave Bartolomucci (sr. Exeter/Exeter) and Dan Wilde all won events as KU placed second in the seven team PSAC East Challenge at West Chester. KU tallied 159 points, for second place. Shippensburg ran away with team title, scoring 207. East Stroudsburg, West Chester, Cheyney, Millersville and Bloomsburg finished third through seventh, respectively. Wilson won the javelin with an NCAA provisional mark of 197-2. Provenzano cleared 14-6 to win the pole vault for KU's other field event win. On the track, Bartolomucci ran the 400-meter in 49.22 and Wilde took the steeplechase with a time of 9:49.80. Jesse Chew (so. Phoenixville/Phoenixville) gave KU the 1-2 finish in the pole vault, clearing 14-0. Pat Bone (fr. Pipersville/Central Bucks West) and Joe Haughey (so. Richboro/Council Rock South) gave KU three placers in the steeplechase along with Wilde. Bone was second in 9:56.90 and Haughey as sixth in 10:14.30. Steve Tyson (fr. Bridgeport/Upper Merion) had a pair of second place finishes. He threw the discus 139-0 and heaved the shot put 50-0 1/4. Jim Dart (so. Havertown/Haverford) and Ben Trasatt (fr. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley) joined him in the discus, finishing third and fourth. Dart was third with a mark of 136-8 and Trasatt took fourth in 133-0. In the shot put, Dart was fourth (47-6 3/4) and Chris Feighner (so. Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) took sixth (44-11). Tony Hegedus (so. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh) was second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.65. KU's 4x400 relay of Hegedus, Billy Boorse (so. Collegeville/Perkiomen Valley), Steve Hixson (fr. Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh) and Bartolomucci was second in 3:17.59. De'Andre Pearson (sr. Norristown/Norristown) was third the 100 in 10.89. Jake Wieder (fr. Macungie/Emmaus) was fourth in the event in 11.02. Bartolomucci was fourth in the 200 in 49.22, with Wieder taking sixth in the event in 22.39. Zachary Snyder (fr. Wyomissing/Wyomissing) was fifth in the 400 in 50.44. In the 800, Boorse was the fifth runner across the line in 1:57.78. Jordan Frank (fr. Cressona/Blue Mountain) cleared 6-1 in the high jump, good for fifth place. Matt Reffie (sr. Wyomissing/Wyomissing) also had a fifth place finish for KU, triple jumping 41-10 1/2. Jim Kelly (so. Ambler/Upper Dublin) was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 167-5. Justin Reichardt (fr. Birdsboro/Twin Valley) took sixth in the long jump with a mark of 20-8 3/4.
Women: 1st/7 - Eight Golden Bears won events as Kutztown grabbed the team victory at the PSAC East Challenge in West Chester. KU had 212 points to beat second place Shippensburg, who had 196.5. The rest of the team standings were East Stroudsburg, West Chester, Millersville, Bloomsburg and Cheyney. The Golden Bears took first and second in both the 10,000-meter run and 400 hurdles. Stephanie Williams (fr. Harrisburg/Riverside) ran a 39:31.91 to win the 10,000, with Amanda Grant (sr. Whitehall/Whitehall) taking second in 40:27.50. In the 400 hurdles, Janelle Kostishion (sr. Hilltown/Pennridge) was the winner in 1:05.99 and Sara Otis (sr. Wyalusing/Wyalusing Valley) was second in 1:06.06. Madonna Patterson (so. Philadelphia/William Penn) won the 800 in 2:17.09. Molly Lare (so. Bethlehem/Liberty) was the winner in the 3,000 with a time of 10:29.21. Steph Sukal (sr. New Tripoli/Northwestern Lehigh) cleared 11-0 to win the pole vault. Elizabeth Lord (sr. Shillington/Governor Mifflin) won the discus with a throw of 137-7 and was one of three KU athletes to score in the event. Alison Maurer (jr. Lewisberry/Northern York) was third with a mark of 131-6 and Kaleena Lockard (sr. Berwick/Berwick) was fifth at 122-8. Candice Bullard (sr. Schwenksville/Perkiomen Valley) topped 5-4 to win the high jump, with Renee Marchand (so. Hawley/Wallenpaupack) taking fourth by jumping 5-4. In the 1,500, Danielle Mousley (sr. Manheim Twp./Manheim Twp.) won with a time of 4:52.43 and Desiree Bower (so. Bethel/Tulpehocken) was sixth in 5:17.12. Laura Kline (jr. Reading/Reading) finished second in the 400 in 57.98, two places ahead of Talia McKinney (so. Millersville/Penn Manor), who ran a 1:02.46. Kline was also fourth in the 200 in 26.64. Jaci Pfieffer (jr. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was second in the 100 hurdles in 15.25 and Amie Bennett (sr. Sinking Spring/Wilson) captured fourth with a 15.41. Lockard finished second in the shot put with a heave of 41-5 1/4, while Jenelle Stoner (jr. Denver/Cocalico) had the fourth best throw of 37-0 3/4. The 4x400 relay of Kline, Otis, Kostishion and Patterson placed second in 4:00.46. Chrissy Procopio (jr. Oakland, NJ/Indian Hills) was third in the triple jump with a mark of 33-9 1/2.
