Alison Maurer - W ID Track & Field
(jr. Lewisberry/Northern York)
Alison Maurer, of the women's indoor track & field team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Maurer won the 20-lb. Weight throw with an NCAA provisional toss of 53-3 1/4. The mark is the best in the PSAC this season.

SAT 2/12 - KU 10, Barton 6 - Kutztown scored five runs in the top of the ninth to pick up a 10-6 win in the season opener for the Golden Bears. Centerfielder Ryan Loper (so. Boiling Springs/Cumberland Valley) led the Golden Bear attack, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored and four runs batted in. First baseman Mike McCardell (so. West Chester/Henderson) was 2-for-3 with a run scored and leftfielder Jeffrey Craig (so. Wilkes-Barre/Bishop Hoban) collected two hits, including a double, in four at-bats. Designated hitter Scott Senna (sr. North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield) had a double and three RBI. Kyle Sadlowski (jr. Reading/Central Catholic) started on the mound, going the first 4.2 innings. He allowed a pair of earned runs on seven hits, while striking out four. Matt Keller (jr. Fleetwood/Fleetwood) got the win in relief
KU 6, Barton 4 - KU belted three homers, including two in the top of the third, to pick up the doubleheader sweep of Barton. Craig, Kyle Costello (jr. Plains/Coughlin) and Scott Senna (sr. North Plainfield, NJ/North Plainfield) all homered for the Golden Bears. Craig finished the game 2-for-4. Matt Maradeo (jr. Nesquehoning/Panther Valley) started and pitched the first five innings to pick up the win. He struck out seven and allowed just one earned run on three hits. McCardell pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save.
SUN 2/13 - Barton 5, KU 3 -Costello and Craig each homered, but it was not enough as the Golden Bears fell, 5-3, at Barton. Josh Fink (jr. Hatfield/North Penn) went 2-for-4 to lead KU. McCardell took the loss, allowing five runs - three earned - in four innings of work.
Barton 5, KU 0 - Barton capped a doubleheader sweep of Kutztown with a three-run sixth inning in a 5-0 win. The Golden Bears managed just two hits in the contest. Loper took loss. He started on the mound and went three innings, surrendering one earned run on three hits.
