Last Week's Action
      FRI-SUN 2/29-3/2 - at Catawba Tournament (Salisbury, N.C.)
FRI 2/29 - KU 9, Glenville State 0 - Katlin Arbogast (so. Ambler/Wissahickon) helped No. 21-ranked KU blank Glenville State in six innings, forcing the mercy rule into effect. Arbogast struck out 13 batters in six innings of work, allowing just two hits and no walks. Steph Denlinger (jr. Harleysville/Souderton) led the Golden Bears, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. Denlinger's two-RBI double with the bases loaded in the sixth inning helped the Golden Bears break the game wide open. Krista Cameron (jr. Formosa, ONTARIO/Sacred Heart) followed Denlinger's big hit with a double of her own, scoring two more runs. Sam Flowers (sr. Harleysville/Souderton) and Krista Tedjeske (fr. Summerhill/Forest Hills) also had extra-base hits for the Golden Bears.
FRI 2/29 - Catawba 7, KU 3 - Catawba's grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning created the separation needed to knock off KU. Catawba scored all seven of its runs in back-to-back innings, with three in the fourth and four in the fifth. Ashley Fitzgerald (jr. Kitchener, ONTARIO/Resurrection) went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run.
SAT 3/1 - KU 6, Coker College 0 - Arbogast pitched her second straight gem for KU, throwing seven innings of no-hit ball in a win over Coker College. Arbogast struck out 12 batters, while holding Coker to just two baserunners - both on walks. KU, thanks to a solo homer from Denlinger in the first inning, led 1-0 from the get-go and did not distance itself from Coker until Flowers started a five-run rally. Flowers led off the seventh with a solo home run to make it 2-0, and KU closed the inning with a two-run double from Caitlin Hague (sr. Lansdale/North Penn). Tedjeske, who went 2-for-3, also singled in two runs in the inning.
SAT 3/1 - Lincoln Memorial 3, KU 2 - KU led 2-1, but wound up falling 3-2 lost to Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) University. In the second inning, RBI hits from Denlinger and Kathy Gregg (sr. Narvon/Garden Spot) helped KU take a 2-1 lead, but the Railsplitters tied it at 2 in its half of the third. Denlinger was 2-for-4 with a double, while Gregg was 1-for-3. Arbogast came on in relief in the first inning and went 2.2 innings, striking out four.
SUN 3/2 - KU 4, Fairmont State 3 - Kim Morrison (jr. Newmarket, ONTARIO/Sir William Mulock) went 2-for-3 with a home run and Maggie Reifsnyder (fr. Philadelphia/Littleflower) hit a two-run blast in the second inning to give KU a win over Fairmont State. Mary Hoch (fr. Somerton/St.Hubert) hurled 3.1 innings, while allowing two hits, an earned run and a walk. Arbogast entered the game with one out in the fourth inning. She struck out six batters in 3.2 innings, while allowing five hits and two runs to get the win. KU had its big inning in the second frame, as Reifsnyder hit a two-out, two-run home run, to give KU the early 2-0 lead. Morrison followed with a single and was later driven in by Gregg to bring the score to 3-0.
