Athlete of the Week
Krista Cameron, softball
(jr. Formaosa, ONTARIO/Sacred Heart)
Krista Cameron, of the softball team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the week. Cameron went 7-for-14 while starting in all five games at the Salem Invitational. She finished with three doubles, a home run, seven RBIs and four runs scored. The junior infielder also had a perfect tournament in the field, with a 1.000 fielding percentage, two putouts and 11assists.

FRI 3/21 - WILMINGTON (Del.) 8, KU 6 - The Golden Bears rallied in the ninth but came up short, falling to Wilmington University (Del.) at North Campus Field. Matt Kulbacki (so. Hershey/Hershey) led off the second inning with a solo homer to left field. Mike Kacelowicz (so. Orwigsburg/Blue Mountain) was 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and a run scored. Both Chad Lightcap (jr. Boyertown/Boyertown) and Jared Frey (so. Mohrsville/Schuylkill Valley) had three hits. Frey was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Lightcap was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Michael Dugan (r-fr. Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Darin Gorski (so. Mount Joy/Donegal) pitched 6.2 innings for KU, striking out nine and allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks.

THU 3/20 - KU 7, Shepherd 1 - Monica Glomb (fr. Mars/Mars) struck out 13 in a complete-game four-hitter, as KU defeated Shepherd University at the Salem Invitational. Glomb allowed an earned run and a walk in the outing. KU was led at the plate by Maria Schiavo (so. Old Forge/Old Forge) and Krista Tedjeske (fr. Summerhill/Forest Hills), who were both 2-for-4. Tedjeske added an RBI. Caitlin Hague (sr. Lansdale/North Penn) belted a two-out, two-run double to cap KU's four-run third inning.
FRI 3/21 - KU 8, Charleston (W.Va.) - Mary Hoch (fr. Somerton/St.Hubert) tossed a complete-game shutout and fanned five batters as the Golden Bears shut out Charleston. KU belted eight extra-base hits, including doubles from Krista Cameron (jr. Formosa, ONTARIO/Sacred Heart), Angela Domenici (fr. Kunkletown/Pleasant Valley), Tedjeske, Ashley Fitzgerald (jr. Kitchener, ONTARIO/Resurrection) and Schiavo. Kim Morrison (jr. Newmarket, ONTARIO/Sir William Mulock) had two doubles. Fitzgerald hit a two-run homer in the top of the first inning. Hoch scattered six hits in the shutout.
FRI 3/21 - KU 6, Seton Hill 3 - Fitzgerald went 3-for-3 with a single, double and a home run to propel KU to over Seton Hill. Lauren Doering (fr. Brampton, ONTARIO/North Park) picked up the first victory of her career, hurling 5.2 innings, while allowing three earned runs on four hits. She struck out 10 batters. Katlin Arbogast (so. Ambler/Wissahickon) finished things off, pitching 1.1 hitless innings while striking out two batters. Cameron drove in two runs on a single and Morrison went 2-for-4.
FRI 3/21 - KU 9, West Virginia-Wesleyan 0 (5 innings) - The Golden Bears shut out West Virginia-Wesleyan in five innings. Arbogast picked up win No. 11 for the Golden Bears, throwing all five innings, allowing four hits, four walks and four strikeouts. Cameron and Steph Denlinger (jr. Harleysville/Souderton) both were 2-for-3, with Denlinger hitting a double and a triple, while Cameron had a double and a home run. Kathy Gregg (sr. Narvon/Garden Spot) hit a three-run home run.
SAT 3/22 - Gannon 5, KU 3 - The Golden Bears had their 12-game winning streak snapped in the final game of the Salem Invitational, falling to Gannon University. Morrison went 3-for-4 with a two-run single. Cameron also went 3-for-4 in the game.
