Athlete of the Week 

Nicki Mitchell - W Soccer
(fr. Nazareth/Nazareth) 

         Nicki Mitchell, of the women's soccer team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.  Mitchell helped the Golden Bears clinch the PSAC East title with wins over West Chester and Millersville.  In the victory over Millersville, Mitchell had seven saves and recorded her seventh shutout of the season.  For the week, she had eight saves and allowed one goal.

FRI 10/29 - KU 117, MONTCLAIR STATE 88 - The Golden Bears picked up a 117-88 win over Montclair State in KU's home opener.  Dan Pfost (jr. Kutztown/Kutztown) was a double-winner for Kutztown, winning both the 200 IM (2:04.99) and 200 fly (2:04.65).  KU won the distance free events, with Greg Fournier (fr. Warrington/Central Bucks East) taking the 1000 in 10:34.44, and Greg Fulkerson (sr. Towanda/Towanda) winning in the 500 with a time of 5:01.88.  Fulkerson also finished second in the 200 free with a time of 1:49.96.  Brad Borek (sr. Southampton/William Tennent) won the 200 breast with his time of 2:18.58.  In the 400 free relay, the foursome of Pfost, William Huber (fr. Mechanicsville/Central Bucks East), Ed Keglovits (sr. Kutztown/Kutztown) and Fulkerson won in a time of 3:25.47.  Steve McNeely (so. Glenolden/Monsignor Bonner) placed third in the 200 breast with a time of 2:19.63.  Rich Reshetar (Point Pleasant/Central Bucks East) finished second in the 50 free with his time of 22.89.

FRI 10/29 - KU 108, MONTCLAIR STATE 80 - Kutztown toppled Montclair State, 108-80, in the home opener for the Golden Bears.  Kelly Rowan (so. Clifton Heights/Upper Darby) and Ashley Singer (fr. Lititz/Warwick) were both double-winners for KU.  Rowan won the 50 free (25.28) and 100 free (55.49), while Singer took the 200 free (1:57.94) and 200 fly (2:13.03).  Singer's time in the 200 fly broke the 15 year-old school record of 2:14.31.  Her time in the 200 free was an NCAA "B" cut time.  Colleen Brady (jr. Harleysville/St. Pius X) won the 1000 free with her time of 11:30.00.  Kristi Acquarola (fr. Folcroft/Archbishop Prendergast) swam a 2:30.47 to win the 200 IM.  The team of Nikki Cattell (fr. Warminster/William Tennent), Meghan Fenningham (jr. Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy), DeLorean Reese (jr. Glenville/South Western) and Katie Hinnershitz (fr. Temple/Muhlenberg) won the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:20.06.  Staci McGinty (fr. Jamison/Central Bucks East) was second in the 100 free with a 55.99.
