Athlete of the Week 

Ashley Singer - W Swimming

         Ashley Singer, of the women's swimming team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.  Singer led Kutztown to a 142-120 win over PSAC foe East Stroudsburg on Saturday.  She won three individual events, including the 100 fly (59.77), 200 fly (2:13.58) and a season-best time in the 200 IM (2:16.02).  She also swam the third leg of KU's victorious 400 medley relay, which set an ESU pool record in 4:08.90.

SAT 11/13 - KU 142, East Stroudsburg 120 - The Golden Bears set a pair of pool records and Ashley Singer (fr. Lititz/Warwick) won three events as KU won its third straight, 142-120 over ESU.  Kutztown set pool records in both relays.  Staci McGinty (fr. Jamison/Central Bucks East), Meghan Fenningham (jr. Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy), Singer and Kelly Rowan (so. Clifton Heights/Upper Darby) swam a 4:08.90 to set the new mark in the 400 medley relay.  Then in the 400 free relay, McGinty, DeLorean Reese (jr. Glenville/South Western), Katie Hinnershitz (fr. Temple/Muhlenberg) and Rowan combined for a time of 3:43.58 for the record in that event.  Singer picked up wins in the 100 (59.77) and 200 fly (2:13.58) and the 200 IM (2:16.02).  Rowan won the 100 free with a time of 55.50.  Fenningham swam a 1:11.59 to win the 100 breast.  Reese's 5:33.07 won the 500 free.  Colleen Brady (jr. Harleysville/St. Pius X) notched a victory in the 1000 free with a time of 11:31.06.

Last Week's Action

SUN 11/14 - at Empire Open (at Cortland, NY) - The wrestling team opened its season with competition at the Empire Open.  No team scores were tallied in the event featuring mostly Division I schools.  At 157, Jamie Gill (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville) advanced to the third round, winning 8-5 in the first round and 1-0 in the second.  Dominic Sabia (jr. Conshohocken/Plymouth-Whitemarsh), 149, lost his first round match, but won three matches in the consolations.  Two of his three consolation victories came by fall in 3:58 and 3:20, respectively.  At 165, Kevin Kahlbach (so. Downingtown/Downingtown) lost in the first round, but won a pair of matches in the consolations.
