Athlete of the Week

Julie Karaszkiewicz - W X Country
(fr. Boothwyn/Garnet Valley) 

         Julie Karaszkiewicz, of the women's cross country team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week.  Karaszkiewicz led Kutztown to a third-place finish at the NCAA East Regional Championship and a berth in the NCAA National Championship.  She placed 11th with a time of 22:20 on the 6K race to earn All-Region honors.

TUE 11/1 - Kutztown 98, College Misericordia 70 - KU won its first meet of the season with a 98-70 win at Misericordia. The 200 medley relay team of Dan Pfost (sr. Kutztown/Kutztown), Steve McNeely (jr. Glenolden/Monsignor Bonner), Scott Arnold (so. York/Northeastern) and Rich Reshetar (jr. Pipersville/Central Bucks East ) swam a 1:42.94, a Misericordia pool record. Greg Fournier (so. Warrington/Central Bucks East) won the 1000 free in 10:42.15. Other event winners for the Golden Bears were Derek Orr (fr. Easton/Easton) in the 50 free (23.29) and the 100 free (51.18), Dan Schoor (so. Warminster/Central Bucks East) in the 200 IM (2:13.80), Reshetar in the 200 free (1:52.94) and Arnold in the 100 fly (56.61)

TUE 11/1 - Kutztown 112, College Misericordia 73 - The Golden Bears won their first meet of the season, defeating Misericordia 112-73. The 200 medley relay team set a Misericordia pool record, swimming a time of 1:54.82. Team members were Nikki Cattell (so. Warminster/William Tennent), Meghan Fennigham (sr. Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy), Ashley Singer (so. Lititz/Warwick) and Kelly Rowan (jr. Clifton Heights/Upper Darby). Singer also set a pool record in the 500 free, swimming 5:15.04, and won the 200 IM in 2:19.05. Other event winner for KU were Colleen Brady (sr. Harleysville/St. Pius X) in the 1000 free (11:39.81), Erin Searl (fr. Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) in the 200 free (2:07.80), Rowan in the 100 free (56.27) and Cattell in the 100 back (1:05.64). 

SAT 11/5 - KUTZTOWN 144, EAST STROUDSBURG 117 - KU won its first PSAC meet, beating East Stroudsburg, 144-117. The 400 medley relay team, consisting of Brady, Fenningham, Singer and Rowan, won in 4:12.4. Other event winner for the Golden Bears were Beth Reasoner (sr. Chalfont/Central Bucks West) in the 1000 free (11:30.10), Brady in the 200 back (2:20.88), Fenningham in the 100 breast (1:11.28), Searl in the 100 and 200 fly (1:03.80, 2:19.32) and Singer in the 200 free (1:57.74), 200 IM (2:16.85) and the 500 free (5:25.36). KU had four PSAC qualifying times by Kate Hinnershitz(so. Temple/Muhlenberg) in the 200 free (2:02.94), Fenningham in the 100 breast (1:11.28), Searl in the 200 fly (2:19.32) and Singer in the 200 IM (2:16.85)
