Jess Brady - W Basketball
(jr. Emmaus/Emmaus)
Jess Brady, of the women's basketball team, is this week's KU Student Bookstore Athlete of the Week. Brady scored 47 points in the team's first three games of the season, (15.7/game). She also leads the team with 31 rebounds (10.3/game). She was named MVP of the Golden Bear Classic where KU was 2-0.

TUE 11/15 - Columbia Union 84, Kutztown 82 - Columbia Union sank the game-winning bucket with 36 seconds to defeat Kutztown, 84-82. The loss spoiled a fine KU debut for transfers Bruce Hall (sr. Cheltenham/Cheltenham) and Maurice Bryant (jr. Coatesville/Coatesville). Hall led Kutztown with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Bryant had 12 points and six assists. Frank Moultrie (sr. Southampton/William Tennent) hit five three pointers en-route to a 16-point effort, while Ben Arnold (sr. Philadelphia/Christian Academy) had 11 points and David Ben (r-fr. Coatesville/Coatesville) scored 10. Arnold added eight rebounds. Kutztown went on a 20-10 run over the final seven minutes of the first half to open a 41-31 lead at the break.

TUE 11/15 - Kutztown 78, Columbia Union 59 -Tricia McElmoyle (fr. Jim Thorpe/Marian Catholic) scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in her collegiate debut to lead the Golden Bears to a 78-59 win over Columbia Union. McElmoyle connected on 11-of-15 field goals, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. She added four assist and three steals. Monique Boykins (sr. Yeadon/Penn Wood) scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while Jess Brady (jr. Emmaus/Emmaus) scored 14 points to round out KU's scoring leaders. Megan Bainbridge (jr. Minersville/Nativity BVM) dished out seven assists to go with her eight points. The Golden Bears out-rebounded the Pioneers 70-29, which helped to reduce the impact of KU's 40 turnovers. KU's 70 boards established a new school record, eclipsing the old mark of 67, set multiple times, most recently vs. Cheyney in 1995. Kutztown never trailed in the game, building a 21-5 lead at the midway point of the first half. McElmoyle had seven points off the bench in the run.
FRI 11/18-SAT 11/19 - GOLDEN BEAR CLASSIC
FRI 11/18 - KUTZTOWN 71, DAVIS & ELKINS 63 - Brady scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Kutztown to a 71-63 win over Davis & Elkins. Brady hit 6-of-8 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws. Rachel Weidensaul (so. Ashland/Cardinal Brennan) scored 12 points, while McElmoyle added 11 for the Golden Bears. Boykins scored nine points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds. Kutztown out-rebounded the Senators 43-29. The game was tied at 32 at halftime, but KU opened the second half with a 15-6 run to take a nine-point lead.
SAT 11/19 - KUTZTOWN 91, ALDERSON-BROADDUS 67 - Brady had a double-double to lead Kutztown to a 91-67 win over Alderson-Broaddus. Brady scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She was 7-of-11 on field goals and a prefect 4-4 on free throws. Weidensaul was 5-of-9 from the floor scoring 13 points. Katie Harlor (so. Danville/Danville) scored 11 points, while Bainbridge chipped in 10 points while dishing out 11 assists. Kutztown out-rebounded the Battlers 53-34.

FRI 11/18-19 - 1st/4 -GOLDEN BEAR INVITATIONAL - KU placed first with 672 points at the Golden Bear Invitational. Salisbury was second with 501 points and Montclair State was third with 475 points. KU dominated the first day, winning all but two events. The 200 free relay team of Rich Reshetar (jr. Pipersville/Central Bucks East), Derek Orr (fr. Easton/Easton), Daniel Schoor (so. Warminster/Central Bucks East), and Scott Arnold (so. York/Northeastern) won in 1:31.01. The 800 free relay team of John Pandish (fr. Milford/Delaware Valley), Greg Fournier (so. Warrington/Central Bucks East), Dan Pfost (sr. Kutztown/Kutztown), and Orr swam in 7:36.07. The 400 medley relay team of Pfost, Steve McNeely (jr. Glenolden/Monsignor Bonner), Arnold and Reshetar came in 3:43.58. Individual winners for KU were Arnold in the 200 IM (2:10.75), Fournier in the 500 free (5:04.66), McNeely in the 100 breast (1:03.35) and Orr in the 100 free (49.96). Day two was just as good for the Golden Bears. The 400 free relay team of Pandish, Pfost, Orr, and Reshetar was victorious in 3:23.64. Pandish won the 400 IM (4:35.077) while Pfost won the 100 fly (55.71). Reshetar won the 50 free (23.13), Orr won the 200 free (1:48.18) and Fournier won the 1650 free (17:19.77).

FRI 11/18-19 - 1st/7- GOLDEN BEAR INVITATIONAL-Kutztown won the Golden Bear Invitational with 519 points. East Stroudsburg came in second with 424.5 while Millersville placed third with 417.5. In day one, the 200 (1:41.02) and 800 (8:15.19) free relay teams were victorious. The 200 free relay consisted of Ashley Singer (so. Lititz/Warwick), Kelly Rowan (jr. Clifton Heights/Upper Darby), Molly Brenner (fr. Reading/Reading) and Nikki Cattell (so. Warminster/William Tennent). The 800 free relay team was Rowan, Cattell, Liz Rega (jr. Royersford/Spring-Ford) and Singer. Meghan Fenningham (sr. Philadelphia/Nazareth Academy) won the 100 breast (1:10.27) and Singer won the 100 free (54.34). In day two, KU again had two winning relay teams. The 200 medley team (1:53.62) of Cattell, Fenningham, Singer and Brenner and the 400 free relay (3:41.63) of Cattell, Brenner, Rowan and Singer. Also winning for KU were Erin Searl (fr. Philadelphia/Archbishop Ryan) in the 400 IM (4:58.77) and Beth Reasoner (sr. Chalfont/Central Bucks West) in the 1650 free (19:07.67).

Western State 33, Kutztown 3 - KU traveled to the Colorado Mines Invitational and lost the first match to Western State, 33-3. Bret Wade (sr. Phoenixville/Phoenixville), at 184, had the only win for the Golden Bears in a decision, 9-2.
Montana State Northern 22, Kutztown 18 - In the second match, Kutztown had five winners. At 141, Brett Martinez (fr. Slatington/Northern Lehigh) won 7-5. Kevin Kalbach (jr. Downingtown/Downingtown) won at 157, 14-7. Ryan Wasser (sr. Northampton/Northampton) won at 174 by an injury default. Wade had his second victory of the day at 184, winning 10-7, and Andy Freas (jr. Trexlertown/Emmaus) won at 285, 8-2.
Kutztown 29, Colorado School of Mines 15 - KU won the last match of the day against the host school. Brandon Clemmer (so. Pottstown/Upper Perkiomen) won at 133, 9-8. Kalbach won at 157 by a technical fall, 18-3. At 165, Jon Shaffer (sr. Conshohocken/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) won, 3-1. Wasser won by a fall at 174 in 0:44. Wade won his third match of the day, to go a perfect 3-0, at 184, 17-5. Curtis Beardsell (r-fr. Warminster/William Tennent) won at 197, 5-4. Freas wrapped up the match with a pin at 285 in 2:13.
